very important for name changers....make sure to change your car's title...

it caused me such a headache trying to renew my registration b/c it was in a different name! Apparently, changing your license is not enough (as I had done a yr ago!!), you also have to change your title!! The woman even told me that my insurance could have been cancelled if it was caught and I could have been in trouble! It was a long teary day at the DMV for me but luckily they helped me fix it all!! SO KEEP YOURSELF SANE AND LOOK INTO AHEAD OF TIME!! They won't tell you when you change your name because 'not everyone has a car' (dumb reason I think, why not just have a star on the name change form that says, 'if you own a car, please also change your title!')

I just did all that yeaterday... license, title and registration. You have to change your name on the insurance first and bring proof of insurance with you to the DMV.

i am trying to figure out how this works in jersey... the bank owns my title so i guess i need to inform them - i totally forgot to consider this while at the DMV

I tried to do that too when I went to change my license and they NEVER (even though I filled it in for that) changed my name on the title they only changed my address!!!

Okay,

I never knew this.... more aggrevation. I only changed my liscence, so now I have to go back to DMV to change the car title .

Getting married makes life's paper work so complicated.

I don;t think you are going to have a problem. Just call the insurance company and thell them you changed your name. If you get pulled over the names have to match on everything.
I read on here that sometimes the DMV asks for proof of insurance and sometimes not. I called the DMV ahead of time to find out if I needed to change my insurance and they said YES and bring the proof. I guess it is better to be safe than sorry for the people who havent changed their name yet. I read a story on here of someone who had to leave the DMV and come back with her insurance.
