video disappointment
Well, a lot of you have heard about my disappointment with our photos. I was really hoping that JoVon would redeem themselves with their video. We loved the ones they showed us in the studio, and it's one of the reasons we decided to book them over another photo/video person, whose video we didn't like nearly as much...We got the video yesterday, and I was SO disappointed! DH and I watched the DVD, and found the quality to be poor. We believe that they recorded it on a low quality setting to fit more on it. The baby pics are very pixelated. When we put on the VHS to compare, this wasn't the case. The rest of the video was just, well, - a video. They didn't add ANY special effects or anything. Now, I'm not a big fan of a lot of cheesy effects - I like watching wedding videos to see the actual wedding. However, when we saw their sample videos, they had very sophisticated, modern, and different effects that we loved.
I'm so sick of stuff that I'm excited about ending up being a let down - the photos, the video, etc....
We want to show our parents the video first and see what they think, but then we're most likely going to complain and ask them to add some effects in....

Re: video disappointment
why don't you flat out ask them why your video is not similar to the samples you were shown? You have a right...you PAID for their services

Re: video disappointment
I'm sorry that you guys feel this way... I think if you complain they will add in some effects and hopefully recreate what you paid for.

Re: video disappointment
I just wrote my complaint email to Duet re: my album and video, too...for my video, I wasn't ever asked for songs to include, so there's one section with Martina McBride on it, which I really don't care for. Our first kiss isn't in the video!!!! but they included all of the readings from the church - they're so long!! In the beginning, there's this section with me and it's just amazing, they did such a cool job of editing it all together, but that's really it, the rest is just straight scene, cut, scene, cut...I was disappointed too. I'd see what they can do about it, that's what I'm doing.

Re: video disappointment
We got the raw footage back from B rett M atthews and my husband was so upset that they missed the first kiss. He was panning the church. My husband said he can't watch it anymore to do the editing cause he is really upset about that.Im sorry Jackie. You should complain if u arent happy.

Re: video disappointment
I was a little surprised because I felt that the raw footage was a little on the short side, considering it's a long day, but in general I'm not going to get myself really upset because it did come out nice and I still will look at the video and appreciate it in the future. I think once it is edited, it will really look better.

Re: video disappointment
Oh boy I have such high hopes for my video, this is disturbing...my photographer didn't really follow our instructions so I am missing a lot of stuff. Well we have a wedding tomorrow at the same place so we are going early to get the pics. he missed -- like the entrance, the tasting bar, the buffet stations -- duh!!I am sorry you aren't ahppy with the video but they can always add special effects - as long as they caught the oments you wanted, it can be fixed.

Re: video disappointment
I swear, sometimes I think that vendors try to figure out which couples dont' really require that much effort...But, I honestly don't know of anyone who is 100% happy with photo and video.
for me, like a dumb a$$, I let the videographer leave an hour early because I assumed that nothing else would happed. MISTAKE! SO much happened in that last hour. So, when I see the end of my video, to me it feels like it's ending in the middle of the wedding. But, the only person I can blame for that is myself...he asked if it was alright to leave and I said, 'sure'

Re: video disappointment
I'm sorry to hear that.I have to tell you girls, I was very lucky with my video. We weren't going to have one at the beginning because we didn't have enough money but my dad said he will pay for it. So we booked this guy a couple fo months before the wedding, I had gotten his bussiness card from a photo store and he turned out to be great!!!!!! He is the swettest man and very very professional. My video was ready a month after the wedding and he shipped it to me from NY to miami as soos as it was ready. He did an excellent job!! and stayed till the very end of the wedding.

Re: video disappointment
8 years later and I can not bring myself to watch my video. The lighting is horrible and I feel like the guy was on a ship with the video. He missed the whole ceremony and he has a most of the ceremony with the microphone cord hanging between me and hubby. Do you want me to continue. Didnt get us walking down the aisle together, didnt get us walking into the reception, Left extremely early. Got my photographers head in many shots. I can keep going. I didnt want to pay for it but then they wouldnt give me back any of my baby pictures that they used.I can still keep going but you get my drift

Re: video disappointment
We HATE our DVD too! The sun was so bright, the sound quality was horrible and our pictures were blurry too. We enjoyed seeing our wedding again but as we watched we looked at each other, I shook my head and said 'oh well' and my husband just looked and said 'don't get me started'. We didn't have a good experience like other people I know who used our p/v. It stinks especially since we spent ALOT of money!

Re: video disappointment
I'm so sorry to hear that and know I am really worried too. I also used Jovon and they switched one of our photographers without notifying us. Our proofs are in and I am worried.
