Voting Q: Did they check your ID?

They didnt even look at mine. I had it out and everything. The guy made me write my name on a voters card and the woman went by what I wrote. It was weird to me.

Yes. They verified my name and addy against my license and then my signature against my voter reg. card signature and license.

Those old ladies were SERIOUS!

Nope- I started to get it out of my purse & they were like no we dont need that. They had my signature on file & matched it up and by the way they looked totally different and both were mine

nope didnt need it at all! just asked my name.. and its my madien name not even my married name

Thats nuts. They went by my signature but my signature is not hard to forge. How would they know?? The ladies at my polling station seemed ready go home...

I appreciate the little old ladies (and anyone else) who volunteers. BUT....I went to vote at 5:55am. The old hags were the nastiest women I've ever seen. Yelling at people left and right, etc. I cannot imagine what they'll be doing at 9pm!

It's weird bc I saw that all the people in front of me had to show their ID so I took mine out but they never checked mine either. I do have to say that all the people in front of me had issues bc their names weren't in the book which happens i know bc this happened to me last election, and it took long just bc of this and one lady fought with the guy. Even before it was my turn the guy had to take a deep breath so I think he was just a bit flustered when it was my turn so i think he just forgot bc everyone else i noticed had to show it.

Do you vote at PS 2?

it happened to me the last election and i had to do the paper ballot thing, so i was glad to see that this time it was on there. 1st time i voted it was there, then 2nd time they didnt have my name and now thank god they had it.

Yeah for voter registration they still have my astoria address so i had to go to PS 84. I don't mind since i am used to going there, plus i had to run errands in astoria so worked out

No...I even had it out and I asked them and they said they didn't need it!!! I wanted to go in as someone else and vote again

nope, but i never recall them asking for ID, they just match up the signatures.

yeah now that you mention it, don't remember if they ever asked me for ID. When they didn't have my name in the book for the last election, I think thats when I had to show ID but other than that not sure if I did.

I tried to hand mine to the man looking up my name, but he kind of just brushed it away, as if he didn't want to look at it.
