VP Palin?

VP Palin?

so McCain pulled his VP out of left field. Literally. He choose the female Gov of Alaska.

Um.... who?

thoughts?

He picked a woman to draw in Hillary supporters. Smart move. I'm no McCain fan at all, she may very well be qualified, I don't know ( I'm starting my research on her now). But this was a very well crafted, strategic, purely political move.

Granted, they're all political moves, but this is like a flashing neon light political move.

I'm reading about her too. She's a card carrying NRA member, she likes to fish & she's pro-life.

How can someone who shoots animals for sport be 'pro-'life'?

smart move mccain, smart move...

i have to admit when i heard the news i was shocked...he plays his cards well, the woman card that is.

it might work, it might not. she's waaay too new, she's only been in politics for a few years, but then again so is Obama...i dunno this is all like a soap opera, i'm about to grab some , sit down and enjoy the fight til november rolls around!

p.s. what did we think about obama's speech last night!

Add to that that most 'pro-life' supporters are in support of the death penalty.... It's all about their control, not about the real issues...
maybe I shouldn't have said that... JMVeryHO!!

Either way it goes, it will be one for the history books... it will be the first black pres or the first female vp. So whichever side you are on, we are making history. Have to be proud of that.

If he had picked Romney, I might have voted for him in hopes he kicked & Romney became the Pres.

He was my old boss at Bain Capital. I worked for him for 3 years & He's SUPER nice. He's a really good person & very smart. And his wife is awesome.

Re: VP Palin?

i am really not familiar w/ her so this is just though and from what I have just read. She has been in office for 2 years in her current position - from what I recall McCain's major point with Obama is that he lacks experience, so why pick someone who is not a seasoned politician.

Yes smart choice pick a female in hopes that Hilary's feminist fan club jumps on her - major issue she is still a repub and she has strong ties to Pro-Lifers (the anti feminist issue) and unsure about gay/lesb pov and then to top it all off her hubbie work on oil fields and is a commercial fisherman (what do you think will be on her agenda>>???? opening up more drilling and taking away the new laws on protecting the sea from over fishing).

I really can't wait to read more about her and her views. I do realize a VP's role is not as important as the President's but the VP is there to fill the gaps of the President - to ensure a well rounded point of view and to be a major support system. Is Palin that person? So far from reading no - Biden yes. But as I said we all will know when the debates happen we all can form serious opinions on any of the candidates and their vp choices.

I think its either genius or the dumbest political move he ever made.

Re: VP Palin?

I said this on the LIF thread, but will say again:

This pick was a move made for the singular purpose of energizing the conservative Republican base. Palin is about as conservative as you can get without being a Libertarian. This was not a move to get educated HRC voters who are disenchanted with Obama (Palin is way too conservative to get those women). This was a move to get conservative voters who were wary of McCain to go to the voting booths in November.

Admittedly though, there will be a lot of less educated voters who don't take the time to read up on her and say 'Hey, McCain chose a woman! How great is that?! I'm going to vote for them now.' Some of those folks may actually agree with this ticket's politics, but a lot won't and wouldn't if they understood what their positions really were.
