Caroline in AK they eat the animals they shoot...they don't eat ppl. I get what youre trying to say but thats quite a leap.

She's from DH's neck o the woods. DH's father met her the other day at a political event since he's running for state house. I'm excited. I think she was a great choice!!

I think when people bring up the fact that she likes to kill animals and is pro death penalty its more of a 'moral' hypocrisy. How are you okay with killing an animal or killing a criminal but then act like its 'murder' to have an abortion. How is that not hypocritical. I guess all life is not equal right?

And not all hunters EAT their game. Some do it just for fun. Not my kind of fun.

IMO all life is NOT equal. You kill someone or you rape someone you give up your 'human card' and your broke the contract - I have no problem with someone dying in a humane way as punishment for a crime.

An innocent baby has done nothing and does not deserve to die for that reason.

And I would never equate a moose with my future unborn children

Obviously, this is all JMO - Just wanted to explain why *I* feel that it is not hypocritical to hunt AND be pro life.

a person who has committed a heinous crime being killed, an animal being killed for food.......an innocent baby being killed. i personally do not think that is a fair comparison at all! jmo.

As far as 'breaking the contract', I dont feel like I live my life by a contract. Of course I would never intentionally kill someone or rape someone. There are evil people. The death penalty makes no sense. We are KILLING the criminal who we are prosecuting because murder is illegal. We are not God. Why are people so quick to put things in Gods hands and say 'God will take care of that', yet they wont leave it in Gods hands to punish a criminal. Thats OUR job right? Im all for punishment. The death penalty is just hypocritical. But so is politics. As far as animals and humans being equal, of course I wouldnt view my child the same as a moose. But I would have a problem killing a living creature for pleasure. I caused a cat to get hit by a car when I was younger and I was traumatized for days.

I fish, so I cant really say anything about hunting. . .and I ENJOY fishing so it would be hypocritical for me to speak out against hunting even though I seriously doubt that I could ever do it myself.

I just wanted to explain a different view, bc I DO see a difference btw the death penalty, hunting and abortion. . .who knows if I am right though - or if anyone is right, its just an opinion and how I feel about it!

HAHA! I wouldnt be surprised. Its not a credible website but DH originally told me Sarah Palin had a grandchild with Downs Syndrome and then I read that it was HER child. DH said he swears he heard a newcaster call the baby her grandchild.

From CNN.com 'Obama said reporters should 'back off these kinds of stories' and noted that he was born to an 18-year-old mother.'

I dont think Obama is threatening to fire his staff if they mention it because he doesnt wanna piss off young single mothers. He himself was born to an 18 year old mother. So why would he use this against anyone. This makes me love him even more. Shows he has some sort of SOUL

Same here! He said peoples families are off limits. He could have easily used this as a low blow.

How can someone who shoots animals for sport be 'pro-'life'?

she's from alaska - it is a part of their culture and how they grew up. my nephew's mother is from the state of washington - very rural. there are a lot of things that i'm like 'whoa' about that she thinks is totally normal - like fishing in a local river for dinner three nights a week or going out in the back to 'kill dinner'. it is different for me being i'm from new york but it is a way of life for some people.

i am a big animal lover so it is not my bag, that's for sure.

then again, teddy roosevelt a self-proclaimed HUGE animal lover had more heads hanging in his office than in the smithsonian! go figure.

I guess it shows all politicians are hypocritical! Thats nuts about roosevelt. I guess some people dont view wild animals the same as domestic animals.

very true. its a diff way of life. ive seen from personal experience with DH, and his fam, who was born and raised in Alaska up until moving here just 2 yrs ago.

I would just like to say - unless you are a vegetarian and don't eat any meat, you can't really judge a person who hunts and then eats what they kill - because you eat animals that were once alive as well. I eat meat, therefore I cannot have any problem with someone who eats meat that they kill themselves.

Next, (while we are talking about hypocrisy), you cannot call Sarah Palin inexperienced if you support Obama and think he is experienced enough to be president of our country. They both have the same amount of experience.

Third, this was a very positive choice for all women. It is historic, but also makes us (and our daughters) see that we can truly be anything we want to by - and that is an important lesson.

I agree up to a certain point. 'An innocent baby' thats how you view it. Thats the argument with abortion. If its even a baby at all. Not saying those are my views. Just stating the argument. And hunting to eat your kill is a different story too. There are hunters who hunt for the GAME. Thats what I meant. Again I would never view an animal the same as a human.

And I think the experience factor should be thrown out the window. I think weve all seen what 'experience' got us with our president now.
