wash n fold service
Does anyone do this? I feel kinda snobby like I can't do my own laundry but its just the time saver that I am doing it for. We have about 5 loads a week and each machine is like $3 to run at the laundromat and each dryer is about $1 each.I dropped off 3 loads today (20lbs) and it came out to $19. Basically for an extra $5, someone washes and folds it for you. I'm kinda ehh about someone washing and folding my underwear though.
Does anyone else do wash n fold or do your own laundry at laundromat? When I can, I bring to my parents to do a load or 2 but it takes like an hour a load w these new high efficiency energy saver machines!

Re: wash n fold service
We do! Lately we've been doing it at my mom's house and sometimes I'll haul it down the block and do it myself, but we often have the laundromat do it. It's great!

I used to do it but had too many ruined clothing...if your place is good, stick with it but I cried over bleached clothing one time too many.

We do it. We pay about $20 a week so it's worth it for us.

Re: wash n fold service
i just tried it for the first time in queens. gotta pick it up tonight!DH wants to learn how to do laundry....so he took his stuff out of the dirty pile, so he can wash it himself. he doesnt want strangers washing his stuff. weird.
i have no problem with it, as long as i get everything back.
so, we will see how they do it, how DH does it, and then cost compare.
i used to do it ALL THE TIME in brooklyn. between the $$$, the struggle for quarters, and the HOURS it takes, i couldnt be bothered.
but the verdict is still out in queens....

Re: wash n fold service
We have about 4-5 loads to do per week. I usually do a load or two at my sisters or Moms while visiting, 1 at my friends house, DH brings a load to his Moms every Thursday (Just his clothes of course)
But sometimes, we are extra busy and I dont' get to do 1 or 2 per week and I driop it off by me. I LOVE THEM!!! For 15 pounds its about $13 and I always give them a little tip and I pick my clothes up on my way home from work. It works out perfect. It's not snobby at all. But I keep my underwear and towels aside. I do them at Mom or someones house and just give my clothes over. LOL Towels are heavy and I don't want anyone washing my underwear.

Re: wash n fold service
oh and my rule of thumb....never pay more than 60cents per pound. then its just not economical to do it60cents is on the high-end, and anything under is great
we will see if im right soon enough, but this has been my experience in the past
when i lived upstate i brought it in once not realizing the price, it was 90cents a pound. OMGGG

if you like the idea of droppingit off, i think you should shop around. this sounds expensive
eta: just read other posts....maybe LI is more $$$ than queens and brooklyn. sorry.

Re: wash n fold service
To be technical, it was 20lbs and it was 17.80 but with that, it would have only been 2 loads. I separated them into 3, so I had to pay $1.50 for the 3rd washer. So all together including drying was 19.30 since I wanted 3 sep loadsTowels and sheets I will continue to wash at my parents or do them at the laundromat on my own.

Definitely. Just drop it off!! So much easier and you save $$$ by not buying the detergent, paying for machines, etc. I missing having a washer/dryer...

Not at my laundromat. They go by the pounds and seperate themselves.
