What seasonings do you add to the veggies (when steaming)?

I put cajun seasong on everything or goya sazon

too spicy for me, but DH would like it.
Stupid question-do you put the seasoning on it then steam it or put the seasoning on it after?
Im a virgin cook

that's great idea!!

i usually cut out rice from my diet, and we eat a lottttt of rice and rice products.. made the switch to whole wheat pita, brown rice and quinoa for starch..

DH and i love desserts.. and we usually eat everything a la mode so i usually make some type of healthy cake or cookie to feel better..

This is a good idea. I could use new healthy lunch ideas. I just ate a shrimp pram hero b/c I was bored of food

I usually put everything in the steamer bag, seasoning included. I'm sure either way is fine though. I try not to use salt as DH has high blood pressure.

A great way to cook any vegetable ( fresh green beans, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower are great this way):

arrange veggies on a baking sheet - spread them out.

sprinkle a little kosher salt on them.

drizzle some extra virgin olive oil or even light olive oil and mix them all up so that the oil is lightly coating the veggies.

cook in oven for 30 min or so - watch them so that they don't burn, but they should brown a bit.

VERYYYYYY good!! I do it all the time with asparagus and green beans.

I buy the birdseye steamfresh veggies..they're ina steamable bag already. After they steam in the microwave...I just add some salt, pepper & some low fat margarine spread.

I've been cooking only chicken, turkey or fish since we got married. At first I got nervous that Dh would get bored or hate it, but he loves it.

(I only eat chicken, turkey & fish, but Dh is a red meat eater, but he's gotten used to my cooking and actually really likes it.)

I even found turkey 'chops'. Just like pork chops, but made of turkey meat. They are awesome. Shadybrook farms makes the best turkey products.

I made 4 salads for the rest of the week and in them I put: lettuce, chick peas, shelled edamame and a dab of blue cheese - YUM!

As for sides for dinner, we usually steam or grill our veggies: broccolli, brocolli rabe, arichokes, green beans or asparagus. I am trying to do no or little carbs. Been having oatmeal for breakfast though...so good!
