I'm thinking of going away for a weekend in October for our one year anniversary. I don't want it to be our actual anniversary weekend because Halloween is just too fun to be away for and we usually have a party that weekend.
Where would you go for the weekend in October? We've already been to Lake George and Cooperstown so I'd like to avoid that area. We'd leave Friday night and come back Monday.

sorry for crashing-- but take a trip to Stowe Vermont!!!!! Its absolutely amazing in the fall :) They have lots of fun things to do. Amazing restaurants. and the view is just breathtaking!!!!! We stayed at a bed and breakfast..... just amazing i cant say enough about it!!

or i have been eyeing this place is jersey for a spa weekend grand cascades lodge
DH and I love taking weekend road trips. We're going up to Saratoga Springs in a couple weeks

I second Vermont. It is beautiful there in October. It is a long drive but you can fly into Burlington if you do not want to spend 6-7 hours in the car driving each way.

I LOVE Vermont!!!! Burlington has a lot of great place like Ben and Jerry's, Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, Dinner Cruises and our favorite the Magic Hat Brewery!!! It is a far drive but very scenic.
Newport RI is awesome too lots of Lil Bars. On the way there you could stop in Mystic, CT and have some pizza!! LOL on the way back stop in 1 of the casinos and hopefully win back you money!!!!!

What about Salem, MA? They do a whole bunch of cool stuff the month of October so it can be like you're celebrating on Halloween.

Check out Mt Snow or Killington in Vermont - they have fall festivals, bike trails, oktoberfests & the fall foliage is just amazing!

Def Salem!!! Also Block Island is really nice. Boston is great too. As long as its not Baseball season & since The Yankees will be in the playoffs & the Redsux wont (im predicting yes) it should be cool. hahahahahahaha Washington DC

yeah maybe they call it mohonk lake house? its an absolutely amazing place. im lucky enough to have been going there since i was a kid

I was going to suggest salem also...its so fun up there around halloween!!!
Mystic is also super fun...I don't know where exactly u could do this but maybe somepolace where u can go apple and pumpkin picking
