Weighted Hula Hoops?

Weighted Hula Hoops?

Does anyone have one? Did you see results/benefits?

I started hula hooping because i hate other forms of cardio, like running/jogging, and ive been using it for only three days and have developed some bruises on my lower abdomen so not sure if its worth doing...but i found a really interesting article about the benefits of hula hooping so im determined to use my 4lb. hoop slowly everyday until i can do 30min a day.

'According to the Cooper Institute, a nonprofit research and education center, one minute of hula hooping burns as many calories as running an eight-minute mile or taking part in a high impact aerobic class' “Add a little weight to the hoop and you can incorporate strength training into your workout as well.”

I wonder if there is truth to this?

No but I use my Wii Fit hula hooping daily. I never heard of a weighted hula hoop so i can't help you in that dept. Is that something new? I feel it so much in my mid section since I started last week so I hope it does work. But with the Wii you stand on the box thing and move your hips so no actual hoop is involved.

Its been out for a while...they look like regular hula hoops except they are alot heavier. This is what it looks like:

Due to the strong impact directly to abdominal and body muscles,
some new users will feel muscle pain or discomfort within the first two weeks of use.
* Play 1-3 minutes only per day in the first week.
* Play 3-5 minutes daily in the second week.
* Play 5-10 minutes after 2 weeks, once or twice a day only.
* Do not use more than 20 minutes at one time.
New user over exercise may cause bruises in the first two weeks.
Please start with gentle exercise or ask your doctor for
recommendations on using this product

Oh that is different but I don't know if I can do that. I bet it gives great results though since it is weighted.

Well the heavier the hoop the easier it is to spin supposedly. Here are some of the benefits ive found:

- directly works abdominal muscles, hips and waistlines
-one minute of Hula Hooping burns as many calories as running an eight-minute mile or high impact aerobic class
-promotes correct body alignment from the circular motions and proper posture in the upper body routines.
-Gain both a cardio and strength workout

Hmm I never hearde of it but probably when you develop betetr control it wont bruise only ebcause its probably bruising from the impact when you try to keep it in place. I know even bumping my self on a wll gives me bruises so that is most likely it. But ifits too heavy defiently start slower.

This sounds fun. I used to eb sooo good at Hula hooping.
