I agree. They should be able to have the same benefits that any committed couple has.

Re: What are your thoughts on GAY marriage??

I believe that they should have the same rights as married couples have (like benefits, rights to visit etc. in a hsopital, filing taxes, etc.)

however, i do not believe in gay marriage. the word marriage insinuates MAN and WOMAN and that definition has been that way for hundreds and hundreds of years.

I would however support some sort of civil union legislation, but not marriage.

you're totally entitled to your opinion! no hate!

my only argument with the commonly used idea that God created man and woman to marry only---is that our gov't is a separation of church & state---so it shouldn't be a question of what people interpret as what God made---and it also assumes that we all believe in one God that feels the same way as the Judeo-Christian faiths.

what about agnostics or atheists who don't believe in either God or a specific idea of God? that is my only issue with this idea.

i dont think that all religions should have to accept this---or any for that matter---i believe the GOVERNMENT should allow it.

Re: What are your thoughts on GAY marriage??

I used to think that everyone should be able to get married, until i understood that, biblically, marriage was instituted by God as a union between a man and a woman that represents the relationship of Christ to the church. So thats where I stand on this topic. Think what you will from that but in NO way do i believe that gay people are lesser individuals!!...and some ppl wont get that or may flame. Just sharing my views like the rest.

i see what you're saying, but marriage to an agnostic or an atheist isn't the same as what it is for me.

totally agree. who says 'marriage' should be defined in religious terms? what if my definition is 'a union between two people who love each other' i am absolutely a proponent for gay marriages, who are we to judge or define what a marriage means?

Allowed is a VERY strong word...I have a homosexual brother and many homosexual friends both male and female. Some have life partners, and some have spouses. I believe that REAL love is very precious and EVERYBODY should have the right to have this. I do, however, believe that marriage is a sacred union shared by a man and a women. I have seen many homosexual couples that deserve this right, but I have also seen many many that think it should just be given to them and do not value what it means. My ONLY concern would be that if it were made legal the sancticty(?) could be compromised. I love my brother and want him to be happy, as well as my friends, but I would not look at a marriage, he or they may have, as I do my own or as I view my heterosexual friends. Right or wrong it's just how I feel. It's so hard to explain in text but to talk verbally is easier. I lived in Key West and I guess that is what influenced my thinking as well. Ask away..I will explain anything you want with out flames

i see what you're saying, but marriage to an agnostic or an atheist isn't the same as what it is for me.

i have to respectfully disagree with you on that---because i consider myself an agnostic---and i believe in marriage fully and treat it with utmost respect with DH and i. you can be spiritual and not believe in the words that are presented in the Bible. for you it is about sacred religoius bond---which i completely respect. but for me marriage is not just what is defined by certain religions---it is about a spiritual bond. but my main issue that i'm referring to is the government aspect and civil union itself.....so they can have the same benefits as we do

to clarify, when i said that marriage to me is different than it would be to an atheist or agnostic i refer back to my previous post where i said that I personally believe that marriage was instituted by God as a union between man and woman to reflect the relationship/love of Christ and the church.

i think youre saying the same thing as me...that you believe it to be something different than what I stated (you said for you, its 'not just what is defined by certain religions---it is about a spiritual bond.' )
