What did you do with your bouquet?

My only regret is not having my bouquet preserved. I let mine dry out and then put it in a box with DH's bout in the basement so when I get a curio I can display it. Well this weekend I was putting Christmas stuff away so I peeked because I LOVED my bouquet so much and it was all moldy . I was SO sad that I started crying, DH tried to clean it up with toothpicks and tissues but it's just not curio worthy anymore and I feel like I have to throw it away but just can't bring myself to do it. Am I a psycho or what?? What else can I do with it at this point?

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

Probably nothing much. I sprayed my bouquet with hairspray the day after and hung it upside down. No mold grew on it and it's now displayed in my curio cabinet.

Oh no!!! I'm sorry that happened, but I'm not sure that there is anything you can do to salvage it.

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

I had to throw mine out because while I was on my HM, my mom did not take of it and it all fell apart.

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

yea...my MIL took mine and did nothing with it, so bye bye...she did take some of the ivy that I had it in and rooted it and planted it for me and my 2 SIL...so I have a piece of it.

What about having it recreated in silk?

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

I bought a shadow box from Pottery Barn and am making a collage with my invitation, my DH dried bout and a few dried flowers from my bq along with some pictures. I started it last summer and have just been waiting to get my proofs back from my photographer to finish it. Then in the most recent PB catalogue they have a wedding one made up...guess my idea was good!

Pick out a few flowers that aren't moldy and use them!

Here are pics of the PB one...

I was thinking the same thing. Take a picture of it to a florist. They can recreate it for you in silk and you will be able to have it forever!

I feel the same way. I need to trash mine. Part of me almost wants to have it remade and preserved, I loved it so much and really regret not preserving it.

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

I totally regret not preserving mine...mine ended up in the garbage after I dropped my dried out bouquet on the floor one day while packing to move...it just shattered to pieces. I cried and DH said he'd get me a new one...I'm still waiting!!!!

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

Thanks girls, DH's bout survived somehow so maybe I will take one flower from my bq and the ribbon and do a shadow box thing with our invitation and other mementos.

In hind sight, DH was pretty funny trying to get me not to be sad about it, it was like he was trying to console a child after loosing a pet. He was like 'Jeannie, the boquet was made of live flowers, living things that eventually had to die. It wasn't going to last forever but at least you have a ton of pictures to remember what it looked like...'

Glad to know I'm not the only one who's sad over loosing my bq. Thanks again!

That's too cute Jeannie! I hung mine upside down but the stephanotis in it did not dry well. The roses look not too bad, but I didn't spray with hairspray...Can you do that after it is dried? It's on our bookcase in a vase, but I don't think I will end up keeping it forever...

Re: What did you do with your bouquet?

I had mine preserved too even though I almost fainted when I heard how much it cost. But I loved my bouquet and couldn't bear to just throw it out or try to dry it myself.
Luvsun - yours came out so nice! I'm a little disappointed that my white roses turned yellowish. I thought the freeze-drying process was supposed to keep the flowers as life-like as possible. Your red roses still look red! Who did you get yours preserved with?
