My hubby (that still cracks me up) and I want to invest the $$ we got as wedding gifts. Right now it is all in a low (VERY low) interest savings account.
What did you do with the $?

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
we paid for our wedding so we had little after....but the $ we had saved to pay for the wedding stayed in an ING Orange account which earned around 4-5% interest at the time...and you can transfer it back to your checking account in a day or two which is nice...
Another options is CDs...that locks your $ up from about 6-12 months or more...but you can often get some good % rates.
check out a CD or money market account to put it in. if you don't need it for bills---contact a financial advisor at your bank to see what options could work for the amount you have.

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
he bought an over priced car before we got engaged, by the time we got married it was falling apart already so we paid off the car loan so we could sell it. We bought some nice furniture & the little that was left is in a 3.7% savings account

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
we paid for our wedding so it just replaced what we had saved up..
try online savings accounts.. you'll get the best interest rates instead of your traditional savings account..
HSBC is at 3.05% and I'm sure the others are around there as well..
CDs now are at lower rates than on line savings accounts...

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
after we pay off the hm and some credit cards we will have about 10k left if we are lucky i hope to put it in a ing accout or locking it up for a year so we can't touch it in a cd or something. But we are financially investing challenged.
We paid for our wedding 100% ourselves and we made money which is a RARE case so we are very fortunate.

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
it went to our Home Depot Credit Card ....then we paid my parents back for giving us a little part of our down payment....so we invested into our house
with the little we did have left over....it sits in ING

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
We paid off bills, bought a new car and did some more work on the house. The rest is just sitting in the bank. I told him we should take some of it and put it into a CD or soemthing. He says...........We'll see

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
We still have it sitting in the bank since we just recently deposited it (checks gotta clear).
After we're going to use some to get out of debt (not wedding related), fix up the apartment some with new furniture, and still have some to spend. I think the plan will be to split the rest 50/50 and tuck some away in an account for the apartment/car/rainy day fund.

Re: What did you do with your gift $$
i'ts been over a year and it's still in the bank. unfortunately, it's in a low interest savings, only about 4%, but we are househunting and will need it for a down payment, so we cna't really invest it right now.
