When my DH told her we got engaged, she actually said 'Well, I'm happy if you're happy...'

When DH went to talk to his parents to tell them that he brought me a ring, my MIL told him 'Don't look to me for money. I don't have any to pay for this thing.'

My in-laws were happy. Though DH was a little upset that his dad said, 'Well, I am happy that you finally have a purpose in life.' (Never mind that DH has a PhD and a good job). But FIL is just an old-fashioned type, he and MIL are super-sweet people and they were very happy.

My in-laws were over the moon!!! DH brought both of them when he picked out my ring and they were SOOO excited. MIL helped plan our trip to WDW for him to propose! When they picked us up from the airport they had a huge banner, balloons... They were just estatic.
My parents on the other hand...

DH must have been talking about it for a while and when the ring came in (he ordered it from Borsheim's), he met his mother for lunch (they work close to each other) and she tried it on
The day after we got engaged and my parents had my IL's come for dinner, all of the parents wished us many children. My FIL actually wished for FOUR children,so each grandparent could have one

All of our parents were really happy for us and excited. I had just given birth to his son the month before so we all knew it was coming eventually.
But when my sil got engaged I was SO MAD at her parents!!! When she came home engaged they said congratulations... and then she asked how the felt about it.. and they said ' well what can we do' ' your going to do what you want no matter what we say'

My inlaws are nuts. AS I am sure some of you have seen the threads I have started about them
They saw the ring before I did or I knew. We went to my house first and then to his. My mom and dad cried we hugged My dad hugged mike and said congrats. We get to his house and the first thing out of her mouth was 'I already paid for my daughters wedding Im done paying for weddings I don't have to pay for anymore' She is so freaking stupid!

My IL's were very happy! They had no idea that David was going to propose so it was as much a surprise to them that day as it was to me. I mean we all knew it was going to happen, we just didn't know when.

Mine were very happy - I'm wearing DH's grandmother's ring.
In fact my FIL gave me $ to get my nails done - my engagment was a complete surprise and my nails were a mess

I believe MIL said, ' really?, why?'
and the followed it up with, 'so, is this soemthing you've always known you wanted to do?'
I felt like saying, 'yes, it is, no I'm not pregnant, and just because we dont' discuss our life plans with you, doesnt' mean we dont' discuss them with each other'
we generally get along & they were were happy for us, she was just a little weird about it.
In her defense, my om also said why, but she later told me that she was trying to not say ' It's about time!' & that's just what came out.

They were thrilled and even went with him to pick up the ring, I found that out afterward! They had champagne for us that night, after we left my parents' house. MIL said, 'I knew it the minute I met you, you'd be my daughter in law.' They're nice people.

My MIL and FIL seemed fairly happy. I remember telling both of my SIL's though and they gave each other a look as if they were really worried about something, I felt bad that I had caused them some concern. Demonstration is something between this and this

my IL's knew DH was going to ask me....DH was very close to his mother, and couldn't keep it a secret. They were ECSTATIC...my mother, on the other hand, was shocked.

My DH had the ring for about 2 weeks before so the night before he proposed, knowing we had plans the next day, my MIL told him that if he didnt do it, she was just going to tell me for him! She was very excited. I didnt see them until the day after though and they had everyone over to wish us luck and toast us! It was really nice! I was lucky, all my ILs were very welcoming and excited for us. In the toast at our wedding, my BIL actually talked about how he could never remember me NOT being a part of the family....
