Before we got married I call them Mr.Mxxxxx and Mrs.Mxxxx; since we got married they are like 'oh, call us mom and dad....and I am thinking in my head, I already have a mom and dad so I just don't call them anything or I use their first name. ( I have step parents since I was very young. I have never called them mom or dad)

I made up a name for my MIL awhile ago, and that is what I still call her.

MyFIL is deceased and I call my MIL Elaine (her first name)

I call them Mom and Dad...but I generally try to not call them anything.....

I feel badly, but it's a strange situation...I worked with my FIL before I started dating my husband, so i always called him by his first name, and whenever my MIL called at work, I would call her by her first name.....

But once we got engaged, and married, I saw how happy it made them when I called them Mom and Dad in cards and such, so I couldn't call them anything else....

i worked with DH's dad before we met too. So i'm so used to calling him by his first name... plus lately i don't really care for him much so i won't call him 'dad'. And i usually don't call his mom anything, if i do i'll use her name or jokingly call her mom.

same here. perhaps if i saw them more often (they live 1.5 hr away) i'd be more comfortable!

when spaeking with DH or his sisters, it's your mom/dad.....I just can't call them Mom or dad...sometimes to their faces I will, but right now they are not speaking to me

Mom and Dad. It just feels right to me, and I've been calling them that for years.

It started as a way to get their attention, because every mom always turns around when they hear 'Mom'. She never used to turn around when I said 'Mrs. A'.

Besides, they treat me as a daughter, and always have, so it doesn't bother me to call them that.

DH calls my parents Mom & Dad too, and he is comfortable with that as well.

It took me a while but now that we are married I call them mom and Dad. Danielle doesnt know what to call my parents. She says it feels wierd to call them mom and dad.

Since DH and his family are Polish and he calls them Mama and Tata, I call them the same and he calls my parents Mom and Dad. They mean the same, but having different words for them makes it easier.

I either call them by their first names, or Mom and Dad. They have been so good to me, and they really are like second parents to me.

As some of you have said, I try to go around calling them anything at all! Yet Mom & Dad are so 'my parents' and its pretty weird to call the inlaws that...

'Carol and Bill' feels strange, also. We truly get along so well and their first names seem too formal

So usually I call them Mom and Dad also .. but its not rolling off the tongue easily yet
