Edited: I narrowed it down! I'm now looking at the subaru forester, the honda cr-v, the toyota rav4 and the nissan rogue. Any info on any of these cars would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
I'm looking for a new car and need help! I like the rav4 and test drove it today but I'm thinking it might be a little bit too much of a bumpy ride. Or maybe it was just the road I was on? If anyone has a rav4 please give me some feedback. Also they're running a great deal where I can lease it for $239/month. Whatever I get I'd like to try and stick to that price range. Last, I want something that is FWD or AWD. Please recommend your car, TIA

It was 4 years old. I'm so pissed! I had 10 payments left. Never again VW!
Well I'm glad you're ok. Did VW compensate you at all

I have a 2008 Honda CR-V and I LOVE it! I personally think that hondas are all around good cars. It takes about $25 to fill up with current gas prices. I paid $2.06 last week for gas and i think it was like $24.80 or $27.80, so it's not terrible. it's nice b/c it drives like a car but is very roomy. i leased it from Atlantic Honda on sunrise hwy in bay shore.

Thanks Kristi! Would you recommend them? I'm so weary of car salesmen.

i personally despise car salesmen. we had a little bit of an issue with the person we were dealing with but i think that came from inexperience. my parents have gotten cars from Babylon Honda for the past 10 years. I would recommend that dealership first I think. They are on Montauk Hwy in West Babylon

I love my Subaru Forester - I've had it for years - haven't had any major problems with it (*knock wood*). My brothers and parents also own Foresters and love them as well. You can't go wrong - it's a great car!!!
I'm trying to figure out how I can get DH to sell his car and take mine so I can get a new Forester.

Re: what do you drive? I need help again
my in-laws have an 08 CRV and are happy with it. mostly MIL drives it. my FILs only issue with it is the way the seats fold down in the back, they don't go completely flat. he had wanted the Rav-4, whose seats do go flat, but MIL wanted the CRV so the CRV won out. we've been passengers in the car a few times, and DH has driven it a few times. it's a very smooth ride, but DH enjoys driving our Santa Fe more.
i believe the dealer they got it from was in manhasset - very north on glen cove rd. i forget the name of the dealer. but they shopped around at several dealers and they gave them the best price.

thanks! That was the dealer I was looking at so it's nice to know your parents had a good experience with them. Which hyundai dealer did you use? I'm not opposed to a santa fe either.

thanks for the response. I guess it's a newer car because I can't find many people that have one. It is the best deal out of the 4 options

we've bought 3 hyundai's from advantage hyundai in hicksville. DH bought a sonata there in 2007, then i bought my elantra there last april. we traded in the sonata for the santa fe at the beginning of the year. they're trying to clear the 08 inventory, so we got the santa fe for over $10K below MSRP. we've never leased a car from there, but with buying we know they will definitely work with you on the price.

Re: what do you drive? I need help again
Jess we are car hunting too. Mine just crapped out last week and sharing is not working out too well.
We are looking at the Santa Fe, Rouge and CRV. I know people who own each and have great things to say about them all.
We are also looking at cars and not trucks so right now I am not of any help -- except checking out buying options over leases -- dealers want the cars gone and do not want them back so everything we have started to prices is cheaper to buy then to lease.

Re: what do you drive? I need help again
Consumer Reports recommends the Ford Edge but doesn't offer any info on the Rogue. In case you want to consider that.
Otherwise I'd go by the test drive. All of them are from reliable manufacturers. Although I do like Honda alot and will probably get the Cr-V next.
