What is something that was said/happened during the ceremony that really resonated with you?

Original post by Anniegrl

For me, it was a few things that the priest said during his homily. I love this priest - he always has a way of saying things that make you feel like he's talking directly to you like he knows you, even though he doesn't.

He said during the homily that marriage is about building each other up, not tearing each other down. I have a bad habit of getting snippy with DH when he doesn't do the things I ask him to do. I say some mean things to him because I think that since he's a guy that it won't bother him. But I have to stop doing that - he does have feelings! And I also don't give him as much credit as I should when he does something good.

The priest also said to me to not hold grudges against DH. When he makes a mistake, let it go. I almost burst into tears when he said this, because it's another thing that I'm SO guilty of, and there's no way he could've known this about me.

I just reminded myself this morning of these 2 things, because DH has been getting on my nerves so bad lately! We're leaving on our cruise Saturday and I'm trying not to be mad at him because of some petty little things he's done

During the ceremony, I was pretty much crying or tearing up the whole time and so was my FI, well I looked up at my best man and he was hysterical crying too! Then I looked down at all the other groomsmen and they were all crying too.
Now that I think about it , it was funny to see all of those big tough guys get all emotional as we were saying our vows.

I loved the blessing of the hands - it was just so sweet and everyone commented on it. I wrote our ceremony so to have everyone comment on how great it was made me feel good.

Dh just stared at me the whole time and held my hand so tight that I thought it was going to fall off - he was so nervous.

The funniest part was my father - he is SUPER emotional and all I heard was him crying through the whole ceremony. Then after our vows I heard sobbing and looked and saw my brother wiping away tears. I really thought it was still my dad LOL.

What really sticks with me to this day is when the Pastor said 'you are now husband and wife' and I clapped and said 'yeah!' and DH went hysterical laughing. I don't know - something about those words really changed me - made us so 'official'.

We were married by my father so the whole thing was really meaningful. A dear friend played a piece on his cello (he is a professional cellist) that he taught himself which was exceptionally meaningful. My DH said in his own vows 'Once you asked me what we would do if we ran out of new memories....the answer remains the same, we will make more.' That slayed me!

Everyone has such beautiful and special memories.

Three things:

1. Looking deeply into my husbands eyes throughout the whole ceremony and knowing/feeling that I was truly loved...this was the happiest day of my life...and that I was the luckiest person in the world.

2. Laughing when the moisture from the flowers on our archway dripped onto my best friend's hair as she was trying to do her reading seriously.

3. The annoying backround music that the hall had playing that no one remembered to shut off. I was finally able to block it out, but I specifically remember hearing Whitney Houston's 80's song 'I wanna dance with somebody'

YES!! After my brother did his reading he concluded with

'God Bless us and GOD BLESS THE NY JETS'

I wanted to kill him!

That is too funny! I hope he knows it will take a long time for him to live that one down with you!

Oh yes, he is reminded by my DH more than me :) It was funny, just the wrong place, wrong time
I am sure one day DH will laugh about it too :)

Oh, no! DH is not laughing! Oh, then that's bad. I am sorry I laughed so hard then. I hope he laughs one day about it, too.

I have a few things.

1. One the way to the church and when we got there, I was thinking I needed to put deoderant on, I don't remember if I did before, but I wanted to put more. So when we pulled up I told my mom to get my MOH and my deoderant (MOH had it in the other limo). My moms like, Do you need it now? I said I don't want to smell!

2. The church had small windows in the doors, so they tried to put me in a corner so DH couldnt see me, but I stood on my toes and caught his eye and smiled. It made me relax a little bit.

Also our ring bearer, DH nephew was only 1 1/2, and he made it about 1/2 down the aisle, running, then tripped, then threw the pillow, turned in a circle, and finally walked the rest of the way. I couldn't see so they had to tell me what was going on, it was soo funny to watch on our video.

3. The first thing I said to DH when I got to the altar was Happy B-day(b/c it was) and then I kept talking to him, I have no idea what we were talking about, and finally he's like, I have a microphone on

4. We had the Blessing of the Hands, and the first time it was read to us at precana DH and I both got very teary, so during the ceremony and DH's part I held his eyes and kept saying in my head to him, You can get through it, , it was hard for both of us.

during our ceremony the deacon had read things that we said during our pre-wedidng mettings with him. and the last thing he said was that my DH wanted me to know that he thanks me for giving him a reason to get up in the morning!! that was the only time during the whole day i lost it!!!

same here...i can't even think what the topic of the homily was ! They 'replaced' my priest last minute (aka as I was walking up the aisle I saw a diff priest than we had been counseling with and never bothered to inform me!)

The hug we shared after our walk down the aisle as husband and wife right before our receiving line

The first time I met one of Dh's co-workers on the receiving line he called me 'his wife' I just melted

me 2!!

Same here... watching our ceremony on video was like seeing it for the 1st time. I was so nervous and so 'in my zone' that unfortunately I don't remember much about being 'in the moment' at all

I started to cry during my vowes. DH wispered something to me and I immediately stopped. I don't know what it was, but I remember feeling so calm and secure.

my ceremony was really a blur but at our reception a guest told us that he hopes
'today is the day we love each other the least in our lives'
