My grandmother (my mom's mom) passed away in Nov of 1998 I had dinner at my parents and went with my Dad to go see my grandmother at Mercy Hospital. When we got there the nurse told us that my grandmother had literally passed away 2 min before we got there. They hadnt even started calling to notify the immediate family yet. This was hard enough for me to handle as I feel like I never got to truly say goodbye to my grandmother...but the hardest thing Ive ever had to do was go home to tell my mom that her mom had died. (I still cry when I think about it)

another was one cleaning out my grandmother's house with my mom after my grandma died. . so sad to go through a lifetime's collection of someones things and just sell/give stuff away. . aside from the stuff we kept of course and we would just work for hours and hours each day going through things. . finally we had an estate sale and then to watch people pick up things and comment on things like 'it's not worth $3.00' or whatever it just felt so awful to have someone's life trivialized that way. .
I went through the same thing when they cleaned out my grandmother's house...to hear people say such negative comments about the things that once belonged to someone you loved more than life...its just so hurtful...

Having to tell my 9 year old brother that his daddy passed away.. My mom and I had to go to his school and tell him in the principals office. I remember him walking in the office and getting this big grin on his face when he saw us because he thought it was a good surprise. He really had no idea what had happened and it was just so sad because as far as I am concerned that was his last moment as an innocent little boy.. Gosh now I am getting teary eyed at my desk!

Oh girls...Im so sorry for all your losses. . Having to deal with this situation with my dad just breaks my heart. I cant imagine losing him...or anyone else I love.
But for now, the hardest thing Ive ever had to do was sticking with DH while he was gone for almost 3 years in the military...then not too long after, he cheated on me. We seperated and after a few months got back together, got pregnant early...I was devastated and confused...but we ended up back together, raised our baby and are happily married today. I NEVER thought we would get back to where we are today. I am so thankful and grateful for the things in my life.

Re: What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do?
Mine was not swerving off the road when my mom called me telling me she thought my dad was dead. I was on the way to their house for Sunday dinner and she came home and found him dead on the floor. When I got there, the paramedics were pumping him full of stuff but he was already gone. I will never be able to get that image out of my mind and I still remember what he was wearing.
After his funeral the next hardest thing I've had to do is get married without him. It was the ONE thing he kept pushing for the year that he died. And he wasn't sick, so it was like he knew his days were numbered....
All you girls get my

Re: What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do?
My best friend of 24 years passed away unexpectedly 3 years ago.. dealing with everything was the hardest thing.. and still to this day living without her breaks my heart. Everytime something is funny I want to call her, everytime I get upset I want to call her.. on my wedding day I wanted her there... We grew up together since the day she was born so I considered her another sister to me... watching her mom (who is like my second mom) fall apart these past 3 years is by far the worst

burying my aunt who died suddenly ...it was the most horrific time of my life, i NEVER want to loose anyone that close to me ever again, and the fact that i will eventually scares the crap out of me
i also left my job of 5 years, that wasn't nearly as hard as some of these other stories, but it wad definitley a hard one!

Re: What is the hardest thing you've ever had to do?
I think this is officially the saddest thread I've ever read on here.
Mine would be when my grandmother died 7 yrs ago....she walked herself into the hospital...was scheduled for surgery....got an infection through a feeding tube.....was put in a coma....and never made it out. We were super close and I'm sad that my husband never got to meet her b/c she would have LOVED him.
The other was when I was younger my friend whose father passed away when she was 8 yrs old...had her mother pass away suddenly when she 13 yrs old. At the time I was really sad but watching her grow up into an awesome person, I know both her parents would have been so proud of her.....but it was tough to see my friend go through that at such a young age.

I'm sorry to all you girls for your losses
Aside from deaths in my family, which there have been many, the hardest thing I have had to do so far is give birth...I won't scare you with details, and in the end, seeing my son made me forget the pain (momentarily lol), but pheww..wasn't the best 14 hours of my life.
I agree. i havent lost anyone close to me......but so far in my life, the hardest thing was giving birth

This is hard
oh reading this is making me so sad. . for everyone. ..
I would say learning how to walk again after spending months in a wheelchair and on crutches.. had to leave college and come home. .and I cried like every day for MONTHS. .. thought I would never be able to be active again. .
