What is wrong with kids today??

My daughter is in the 8th grade and has been in catholc school all 8 of them. She is preparing to make her Confirmation and had an interview with the pastor of our parish...

So he asked her some basic religion question so here was the whopper of all questions..

Priest: So when did Jesus die??
Savannah:-- Umm Black Friday oohh I mean holy Friday
Priest: OK we have Holy Thursday and....
Savannah- BLACK Friday....Oh wait Black Friday is that shopping day!!!!!

ME- After 8 years she is still clueless

Can I be honest with you?

Ive been in catholic schools my entiere life, and I am teaching in one-

It depends on the teacher. Do you know I had children who have never heard of an advent wreath during christmas?!? They say that jesus burned moses and gave him the 10 commandments..

you name it, its there :(

If the teacher doesnt take the extra step to teach the faith it honestlyisnt their fault...dont worry

Jenny I thought of you right away!! The Black Friday thing was just her being an airhead teenager but I do blame the school for not NOT teaching the children about the importance of Confirmation. I remember mine like it was yesterday and God knows it was a lifetime away. The problem is changing the grade of Confirmation from 7th to 8th. The whole focus this year is graduation and the yearbook and not about the sacrament. It is pretty sad when my daughter can recite all 50 superlatives she is voting on for the yearbook and yet doesn't even know the name of our Bishop. I will date myself and say I was confrimed by Bishop McGovern back in the 80's.
