What was the one thing that you were upset about but got over real quick on your wedding day -(Because we had no other choice)?

1. For us it was the car - It kept breaking down, stalling and backfireing the entire way. When we pulled up to the front of the Chateau Briand, our photographer & his assistant were laughing so hard, it was like Chevy Chases Christmas Vacation Movie, yes that bad. The 1933 Packard we were in was back firing and was blowing heavy white smoke everywhere that you couldnt even see us get out of the car. We were laughing so hard I couldnt even breath, wish he would of gotten a photo of that, then we heard a noise, the car actually blew a head gasket and leaked anti freezed all over the front of Chateau Briand, Now mind you we had no air conditioning due to this happening, so I was not a happy camper when I first got in the car considering my hair went flat & it was so humid and hot outside, but the sun was shining on us. . We decided to go with the flow and just laugh our butts off about it, hey its was our wedding day... What else could we do, then we went in for portraits and by the time we had come out about an hour later we had a new car waiting for us, not what we wanted, but a car none the less to get us to the wedding with airconditioning. ..... & We decided not to let it ruin our wedding, as long as the car got us to the church on time, we were thrilled.

P.S. It backfired all the way from the Melville Marriott to Carle Place and kept stalling in the middle of the LIE and on Old Country Road,. so many people in there cars were laughing there Butttt's of off Yeah......

2. ***Our cake was the biggest dissappointment of the night, not anything like we ordered, talk about being devestated, the look we both had when the chateau briand showed it to us was horrific, I dont think we will ever forget that terrible feeling, something that we were so looking forward to having, we paid for a custom cake and expected what we ordered, what we go was something totally different, but what can you do, the wedding must go on......right so we took a deep breath and moved forward past it..................

3. Our Beautiful unique unity candle, it almost burned down our wedding table. Im just assuming that when it was transported from the church to the reception hall and placed on our table as we wanted, someone must of emptied out the liquid wax for transportation reasons but then forgot to re-add it, so at one point I came off the dance floor and was standing in front of my table with some friends I said I smell something burning,they did too, we didnt know what it was, I went to get someone who worked there to tell them and what did I see, my unity candle on fire, I mean a big flame with melted wax all over and it smelled really bad, the unity candle was more then 3/4 melted with wax melted all over the place, the flame was so big it couldnt get blown out by only me, so I grabbed whomever was by me & said blow, nothing got destroyed other then my expensive candle which was to last forever and was given to be by someone special for our engagement. But again it happended so quick, that nobody else noticed.

The weather. It started to rain right as we were taking outdoor pics. I got SOOOO upset, but then I just let it go when I realized there was nothing I could do about it. I joked about it most of the night after that.

When we were signing our Marriage Certificate when everyboday signed and it was the Reverend's turned.......he signed and then he put the WRONG DATE. Instead of April he wrote March.

Right away, I am like Oh, no it's the wrong date. Tears started welling up in my eyes. I thought it was a sign of bad things to come.

Luckily the Reverend had more copies. SO we All had to sign again.

I look back & I laugh

punch got on my bridesmaids dress right before the church...but I forgot about it after 5 minutes.

My sister. Always a disppointment.

She showed up high on drugs, made a scene (or 2.. or 3) and LEFT my wedding during cocktail hour & never came back. My only fricking sibling. We haven't spoken since.

photographer was late and certain pics werent taken that we wanted....didnt care...and proofs are amazing...thats it.....nothing else went wrong at all....it was the best day ever!

a few little things that are annoying because we all spend so much money on our wedding vendors, but because I didn't want to ruin or damper our special day, I had no choice but to get over it.

Our florist (a HUGE vendor on LIW) promised us pew bows and a throw away BO-K. We get to the church and there are two really wrinkled pew bows on the first row of each side - she had said the first six rows would ahve nice pew bows.
Also, they never gave us teh throw away BO-K - even though they promised to bring it to the RH when it wasn't delivered to my house. Thank goodness my RH threw together some roses (I should have just used a BM Bo-k - because the flowers hardly travelled because it was three roses with a ribbon on it)

Then, we paid extra money on a nicer runner at our church from our limo (another HUGE company on LIW) and instead, they roled out a cheap and DIRTY (STAINED) sheet and taped it to the aisle with masking tape. The other kind looked nicer or nothign would have been better. People were tripping and as I am walking down the aisle with my dad, I was pointint out to him a stain.... Actually, these things haven't really bothered me too much until just now - I am getting annoyed because we spent so much money!

also, our band sounded great but they didn't sing a lot of my 'must sing' songs... it seemed like they sang the songs they knew but wouldn't learn ones that were special to me but less 'played'

1 - my flowers didn't have the little pearls in them - the boquets and centerpieces were so beautiful i didn't worry about it

2 - the unity candle was on the alter backwards - (tried to fix it but it was on good) - so no one could see the pretty design

3 - we didn't know where the flowers for Mary were ( found out afterwards) florist already put them in front of Mary.

2 things...the weather (it rained all day, so no CH or ceremony outdoors)...and me getting no sleep the night before..I was worried that I would look horrible or be tired..I was fine

There were 2 things for us... One was one of the glasss holders for the unity candles broke and I said no problem just figure something else no big deal and second was our cake. It was very similar to what we wanted but not 100%. Again I didn't care... it bothered me for like a second.

DH brought the wrong disc for the special ceremony songs but thankfully the DJ had them on another disc we gave him earlier. Whew!

i didnt want formal family pics i wanted only candid shots, but somehow we got roped into it and ended up missing almost all of the cocktail hour : (...our party bus was late because of traffic too ....but who the hell cared, cause after 5 minutes nad thos epics we were on cloud 9million and four ahahha

The Greek christening with over 400 people, that didn't allow my limo's to pull into the driveway. We had to walk from the corner because the traffic was horriffic, and when I say that, I don't mean it lightly. It was NUTS!!! But.....I was surrounded by everyone who loved me, and befoe I knew it, it was over with. And to boot, my CH was extended and so was my reception .

overall i had a beautiful wonderful wedding! But of course we are all going to look back and reflect on the little things that went wrong.

In my case, my hair appt. ran late b.c it wasnt coming out right and than everything started going so fast! I barely got a chance to take any pics with my mom b/c she was running late too.

None of my Italian songs on my request list were played at the wedding but we had a great time so it's not the end of the world but at least one would have been nice.

oh and when we got to the ceremony we realized Flower Michele never dropped off our petal cones. Thankfully, there were able to get them to us by the time the ceremony ended.

and finally there was a baptism and a wedding after our weding so we had to do our receiving line outside off the side of the church. I wanted to walk down the church stairs and have the petals thrown at us as we exited but it had to happen outside of the church...

She actually JUST called yesterday b/c my mom told her about my FIL. She left a voicemail saying she was sorry to hear what happened to him and that I could call her back 'if you want.'

I didn't want. So I haven't. I'm not ready to talk to her yet

She actually JUST called yesterday b/c my mom told her about my FIL. She left a voicemail saying she was sorry to hear what happened to him and that I could call her back 'if you want.'

I didn't want. So I haven't. I'm not ready to talk to her yet




So sorry you had to deal with this!

I feel really lucky - nothing major went wrong. At first I was a little upset that DH and I didn't make it to CH (we finished pics with about 20 minutes left in CH) but I'm glad we had that time together to just enjoy being married!

Wow, there were sure a lot of us, how sad it is after all the planning that these things happen, vendors should read this board and make note of these issues.

THAT REMINDS ME - the luxury bus we rented from a vendor on this site who I'm not allowed to mention

I'm actually still not over that one. The driver was AWFUL! He was late picking up my guests, got lost going to the ceremony, making my wedding start late (grrrrrrr.) then he ordered 2 lobster dinners at the after party for he & his wife & had the bill sent to ME! THEN he did a trip back to the hotel and was supposed to come back for the rest of the guests but instead ABANDONED THEM leaving them 17 miles from their hotel! We had to call for cabs to bring them back on a Saturday night in the Hamptons!

no flowers at the church,due to a mistake by the florist on the day of the wedding. I've dealt with it, but I dont love our church pictures because they look so bare.

forgot to bring my invite for the photographer to photograph.

flowers--the mom's corsages were wrong, but it worked out better.

our RH set up the tables wrong--in that we wanted rose petals INSIDE the hurricane lamps along with the pillar candles, but they just scattered it on the tables.

i accidentally bought 1 giant margarita glass instead of another hurricane lamp--so one table got that instead.
