Re: 'When are you going to have a baby????' VENT

It stops after a year of being married. Only my parents still bring it up and in a non-annoying way. I guess if I haven't seen someone since the wedding they will still ask, but otherwise I think even at 6 months people stopped asking this question.

I ask it all the time though... since I am ready and all my fellow pregnant newlyweds are not helping. I know were not there financially, I want to lose the weight from my illness last fall, and there is Paris in spring. But I want one.

I hate that question too. DH & I really do not want to go into all the reasons why with every person who asks us. So, my new answer is: We like to sleep late on the weekends still.

omg... totally agree... i think about all the ones with small children who have to wake up at 6am on the weekends and i think to myself... oh hell no... omg, and seriously, how about the littles ones who dont know that the clocks went back an hour... 5am sunday wakeup calls... holy cow i just cant... not sure if I'll ever be ready to take that on

I think the worst part of it all is the people who try to make you feel bad for not wanting children... like that is the sole purpose of our existence..

Re: 'When are you going to have a baby????' VENT

After a year *most* people have stopped but some of the old women I know aka my boss, the lady in our office will STILL ask and my response has really gotten snotty b/c I am soooo sick of answering it

My old answer:

'John & I don't want children---we want to wait like 10 years and really enjoy ourselves---we aren't ready for the responsibility'

My new answer:

'John & I hate kids---I'm a selfish b*tch---and unless you are going to take care of it while John & I are on vacation, sleeping in till noon, and out drinking till 5am - FAWK OFF!'

Re: 'When are you going to have a baby????' VENT

people have no couth at all!!

before we were engaged EVERY wedding we went to i got ' maybe your next!!!'

I felt like turning around the next time we were at a funeral and say to that old person in the room ' maybe your next!!!'

why do people care when we have kids???? Its expensive, its time consuming and it is not something that you just randomly decide to do one day. It takes a lot of planning and decisions and im not about to drop trow and bang out a kid because you saw a cute outfit in the store on sale and want someone to buy it for. get a dog.

edit: one fo the wives from the fire house (who got pregnant a year after dating, got married then had another one, is now 25, unemployeed and uneducated, and sits at home all day with two kids under the age of 3) asked me when we were having babies. I said I wanted to get married first, and she turnes around and says' what are you judging me because i didnt get married first?' no jacknut I just like to plan my life out a little more than you!!!~ dont ask a question if you dont like the answer

Re: 'When are you going to have a baby????' VENT

People don't really ask us anymore either.. They asked us NONSTOP at the beginning, and my response was 'Well, I'm 21 and still in school!' but that didn't seem to matter. And I swear to some people it seemed like they thought we were getting married because I was pregnant already... now that we've been married for just about 10 months and there's no baby, I think they've realized that we have no intentions of starting a family anytime soon lol. The sad part is that my FIL, who I love so much because he's just totally awesome, is the worst! He wants a grandchild so bad! It breaks my heart every time I have to tell him no lol.

This seems blunt, but I find that the only people who ask have children already, who are probably a little jealous that they don't have the flexibility to do things they used to or, especially when they hear that DH and I go on an impromptu weekend trip, go into the city, go on vacation, etc.

This is true... the only people who ask are the ones who have kids already (and my mother)... I just couldn't imagine ever asking people such a personal question - what if I COULDN'T have kids? I mean they would feel like a jackass for even saying something.

And Becki... You're awesome... I was hysterucal when I saw that on my FB page. I'm waiting for DH to see it.

Re: 'When are you going to have a baby????' VENT

OH EM GEE! I am asked EVERYDAY BY SOMEONE

Just b/c I am married now doesnt mean I am ready for a baby. AND I didnt get married to have a baby!!!!!!!!! At least not yet! I am only 25, can they at least wait until I fully learn how to take care of myself before I even begin to think of taking care of my kids? Sheesh! Ppl are so annoying !

ETA: its like the people who have kids, are miserable or something and want u to be on the same boat! I SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
