Did any of the offices ask to keep your marriage liscence or a certified copy or do they just need to see it.. (DMV, Social Security, Car Insurance, Credit cards?)

So far none but I havent gone to SS yet. For your passport you have to mail the original but they return it.
Most places just took a copy of it

at SS and DMV i brought in my original marriage cert, and they looked at it, then gave it right back. when i renewed my passport, i had to mail in a certified copy of the marriage cert (or you can mail in the original), but they mail it right back to you.

photocopy and they made it themselves at the offices
