Probably in about 5 years DH has bad credit, and student loans out. I also have loans out as well, so right now we are both trying to pay off everyhting and work at fixing our credit. It s.u.c.k.s. but it will be worth the wait in the long run.

RIght now we are living in my parents house. We just couldnt afford do buy anything right now. So living here, we have the opportunity to save. We want to have kids in about 4-5 years, and we want to have a house first. So i'd say within that time frame of 4-5 years is when we would hopefully buy a house.

we just bought a coop in october but we have plans to buy a house hopefully in five years or so- we are hoping to stay just long enough to have our first baby & plan for the second

We own a coop....and there are 2 bedrooms so I think we are prob staying @5 yrs.

We owned a house even before we got married. (I should say, DH did...I moved in to his house before we got married) We're looking to move into what would be our second house hopefully by the end of this year.

We are looking to buy in end of 2009 or in early 2010.

Probably not for a year or two. We 'hope' to move out of state and will start our renting then maybe buy a home.

Within the next 6 months. Now is the time to buy if u have stable jobs, a little $ and are 1st time homebuyers!

we closed on our first place in 6/08 ( a 2/2 condo)

we plan to buy a free standing house in 5-8 years

we closed on our house 2 weeks ago if DH didn't have a condo, we'd probably be waiting a year or 2 to buy a house.

I want to buy a house before I am 30. So within 2 years. Won't happen unless we win the lotto, someone magically pays all my debt, or DH's band gets signed. Realistically itll be when im like 40.

I wish we could start looking now. We have more than enough for a good down payment and about 6 months worth of morgage payments (well depending on the $) BUT we both dont have our career jobs. I am in my Masters and have school loans. I graduate in Dec but still need to find a job after that.

And DH just got out of active duty (well he is in active reserves) but he is looking for a job right now to hold him over until he gets on teh police force out in South Hampton (which is looking good ). So right now we dont have our career jobs and we live rent free in the apt at his parents house.

Although I would LOVE to get out of it in 1-2 years I have a feeling we would rather stay there till we are stable in our jobs approximately 2 yrs and then thinking about having children. So that wont come for at least another 3 years. SO I say in about 4 years we will definitely already OWN something.

you guys are both young so i would stay there as long as you can and save it all.....we have been renting together for the last 4 years already and living in a small place for a few years isn't bad - but when you've been doing it for 4 years it starts s-u-c-k-i-n-g especially when you are paying rent every month - if we were able to save all of our rent payments we'd have so much more saved - but it is what it is if i were you i would totally take advantage of your situation and save as much as possible - you'll def get your dream home that way!

I know you'll think this is insane, but I'd like to put down $100,000 cash on a house. So far we have 30 saved, so maybe in another 3 years. That's our time frame.

i dont think that is insane at all....if we were buying up here the price of the homes we like are 450-500K and 20% down is about 100K but we'd still have like 300-400K mortgage hence the reason we want to move in Florida if we put down 30-50K our loan would only be in the 100K range and we'll still have money left over....NY is expensive
