which pics to use for album...how did you decide?!

we had over 650 pictures from our photog and we can choose 60 for our album. we narrowed it down to 120...and i can't imagine how we're possibly going to cut the number down in half. we love SO many of them.

so i was wondering, for those who have chosen their album pics...how did you do it? did you try to make a percentage of you and DH, a percentage of family and a percentage of friends? if so, about what percent were each of those?

i love the pics of us alone but there are SO many i love and i feel vein for wanting them in above family/friends. and i don't know if i'm putting too many ceremony pics or too many pretty artistic pics...

anyone have a method they went by? or am i overthinking this and we should just put in what we like the best?

i just don't want to look back and think that we put too many pics of us in and not enough of everyone else or something...

Very difficult decision I ended up with 115 paid extra money for it too

dont overthink it too much! this was my method...just try to tell a story of the wedding day with your pics- getting ready (guys, girls, details like rings, invites, shoes, jewelry, dress, etc), ceremony (rings, vows, kiss, etc), reception (special dances, first dance, cake, dancing, etc), formal portraits (you and DH, family, BP, etc)....and so on. you get the point.

pics of my album layouts are in my album if you need ideas. i think we ended up with 100 or a few over.

you're not vain for wanting lots of you and DH.

youll do it!!! for ones i couldnt decide on, i asked my DH or mom and sisters for their opinions. you could always ask the photog for help slimming down too. they may have good ideas.

When doing my album i wanted it to tell the story of the day...so i picked a few picks from each part of the day...and tried to use as many as I could that showed a variety of guests and details... I picked out all my favorites and put them into photo albums & would flip thru & mark them....then i'd wait a few days & go thru them again and narrow down some more...HTH...good luck!

that definitely DOES help...i always try to rush things, but it is so much better to give it a few days in between cutting them down.

we also tried to pick pics of people dear to us so when we go back and look at the we can say aw there's mollie, there's mike etc.
so if we saw we had several pics of us that were similar in pse we took the best and swapped people in place of those.

but we did eliminate so many we liked that I put a slideshow together with our first dance songs as background and used about 350 pics in that and made a dvd of it. so I can watch and see alot of pics whenever I want.

This is exactly how I did it. We told a story, getting ready, leaving the house, DH at the church, exchange of rings, bridal party at the church, some outdoor pics, bridal party at the recpetion, the recpetion and memorable moments. I think I went over by like 20 photos, we were shooting for 60 but ended up with 80. I couldn't cut anymore out! I also narrowed it down, then went back and narrowed it down some more over a couple of weeks. I started out with over 100 and got it down to a reasonable 80! I spent about 200 bucks extra and it will be well worth it when I get my album back soon! Good luck!

we have 1300 pics to choose from

we are waiting for the design, if there is something we want changed we'll change it

I did ours myself but I would say try and choose your favroite shots per category like:

-getting ready (you and DH)
-church.ceremony
-formals of BP and Family
-formals of just you and just of DH
-formals of you and DH together
Reception: being anounced, first dances, some random shots and cake cutting.

I would choose a handful from each and if there are any you MUST HAVE tell your photographer and indicate those. but aside from that, allow your photographer to lay it all out and then if you don't like pages you can change it.

Sometimes seeing it all laid out makes it easier to choose and decide what you really want.
