Which Play?

Which Play?

My mom wants to buy tickets for my bday in January to a broadway play. Which should we go and see? I've seen most of the major ones.

She mentioned Lion King and I know Little Mermaid is brand new and we both loooved the movie when I was a little girl.

Or should we do Hairspray which is grownup humor?

I took her to see Phantom and we saw Beauty and The Beast together too. Unfortunately I already saw Wicked because she would have enjoyed that.

I took my mom a few years back to Lion King for mom's day. It was awesome...and I think that Lil Mermaid is to be as awesome. Ursala looks sick. I voted Lil Mermaid

ditto

it was just unreal. nothing against little mermaid and beauty & the beast--but i think they have more of a 'kid' feel to them like the movies. lion king was definitely made much more exotic for the stage---and they really expand on the african themes, music, beats, costumes more. its out of this world

Yea I think she'd like Lil Mermaid. We both wnat to see the Lion King but my concern is that its SOOO popular..is it popular because its a great show or a 'me too' thing? yanno.... Thats my ONLY hesitation. Its like dang what was the name of the dang movie..I forget but it was critically acclaimed, every person I knew loved it and when DH and I saw it we looked at one another and said WTH!!!!

I need some more votes ladies. On the fence here! THanks! Jess, which play did you and Nate get tickets to finally?

if u're the first worrier in the world, i am ABSOLUTELY the 2nd next to all the other female members of my family who are the EXACT same way lol.it's a hereditary problem with most of the women in my family... Dh gets so frustrated because i am always SO concerned with others & ooooh the guilt guilt guilt....it's not necessarily a BAD thing...i just get stressed & undecisive about things(totally the pisces in me)...but hey - i'm workin' on it..i've actually gotten a lot better this year!
soooo the lion king....here's the deal - it's the movie. to the tee...dialogue, ' i just can't wait to be king' etc... so don't have super high expectations from the actual story line & stuff.....but the way they do everything is just incredible - so if u can appreciate that, u'll love it..because i'm a theatre nerd i was utterly impressed with the costumes & such..which is the most amazing thing about the show...its just very impressive in that sense & it gives u a lot to take it...it's definetly a cool experience. HOWEVER, if u want it to be special & be ultra impressed & have a really FUN time...GO SEE HAIRSPRAY!!! the show is so freakin' entertaining and just so much fun....u'll be dancin' in the aisles by the end of the night Not to throw another one in there & confuse u more, but Mama Mia is another great one...definetly a mom & daughter kind of a show.lots of fun good luck! let us know what u choose!
