Re: Who cooks every night?
DH and I split the cooking. We eat a lot of grilled chicken and salads, grilled salmon and brown rice, etc. They don't require a lot of cook time or prep time.

Re: Who cooks every night?
DH cooks like once a week and he likes to make stuff with arugula, he likes to make things with truffle oil, and we're big fans of goat cheese.
I don't cook any night so I'm no help.

Re: Who cooks every night?
As you may recall the only items I cook are bacon, eggs & pasta. DH does the cooking. Since we have been living together for 4 years already, I hate the questions, 'What do you want to do for dinner?' It ends up being a 20 minute argument over who is going to decide what we will have. DH is a very picky eater so on Sunday we decide what we are going to eat every night of the week.
Our rotation includes: fried chicken cutlets, chicken cutlets on the BBQ, hamburgers, whole chicken in the oven, corned beef, fried chicken pieces, lamb chops, veal chops, pork chops, & fried filet of sole blue fish. & of course their is the one night a week we we just have pasta. (DH has pasta with butter & some nights I will put something else in with mine (sauce or shrimp))
Other options: One of my friends uses a slow cooker for all of her during the week meals. Another friend spends her Saturday cooking, freezes everything & just heats up during the week.

Re: Who cooks every night?
DH and I both have second jobs, so the only night we actually sit down and eat dinner together is Thursday nights! Luckily by June both of our second jobs end so we’ll get to eat dinner together every night then. Last night we both had Elio’s, but he ate at 6pm and I ate at 8:30.

Re: Who cooks every night?
DH and I eat together about 4 nights a week due to our schedules. In the winter, I do ALL of the cooking because DH must have some fear of the oven
On the other hand, now that the weather is nice and we FINALLY broke out the BBQ - I've been coming home to a grilled dinner almost every night! Yummy.

Re: Who cooks every night?
DH was spoiled by his mommy who gets home from work by 2 and has a full cooked meal steaming hot by 5:30 every day...
So thus, I'm left with cooking dinner every night (atleast during the week...by the weekend, we're usually getting take out).
Yes its tiring...But somehow i manage.
The summer time is easier with the grill.
But otherwise, i try and make things that take at the most 45 min to cook...but they're usually much easier & less time consuming.
oh yea, theyre terrible for you, but i love the McCormick seasoning stuff...especially the ones you put on the meat & then cook it right in the bag they give you. The pork loin one is really good

Re: Who cooks every night?
I cook just about every night, I usually don't cook on Saturdays because its just me and on Sunday's we usually have food from his parents that we just heat up.
I find the hard part is coming up with a new variety of meals to come up with, DH gets bored with the same thing all the time

Re: Who cooks every night?
Me! I do a TON of grilled chicken and veggies. I just season the chicken with a little olive oil adobo and italian seasoning. Steaks marinated in any of the Lawry's marinades. Tri color pasta in garlic and oil with chicken.

Re: Who cooks every night?
I don't cook every night, but I cook often. In the winter, I cooked a big meal on Sunday, like a casserole or chili, and would be able to stretch 3-4 nights from it. Then I would only have to cook Thursday, usually have leftover on Friday, then Saturday. But now, we go to dinner at MIL's on Fridays, and I go to my mother's on Tuesdays when DH had class or bikes, so I really only have to worry about 5 nights a week. If I cook 3 times, that usually lasts us, with leftovers. I make a lot of salads, rice, beans, cous cous, frozen items from trader joes like the spinach pies and chili rellenos and taquitos, wontons, spring rolls, chicken tenders, fries, onion rings...all easy to heat up. And they're pretty much all natural/organic, so not even bad for you. On weekends we make more involved things like our skirt steak or souvlaki or meatballs or breaded chicken cutlets.

Re: Who cooks every night?
We finally finished remodeling our kitchen so its back to cooking for me after 2 months of not doing it. We make tacos, chicken cutlets, different types of pasta, pork, turkey burgers. I try to make a big meal on Sunday this way we have leftovers for at least 2 nights. Recently I made buffalo chicken mac and cheese, that was a huge hit. And now that its summer, I try to make cold salads that go with grilled meats.

Re: Who cooks every night?
I cook almost every night. The meals have gotten simpler since I started working in NYC (with the long commute). However, preplanning meals when you shop is IMPERATIVE. I take out the meat in the morning so it's defrosted when I get home.
