We live in a nice complex that is SOUNDPROOFED! Thanks goodness!
Its funny, we have this older couple living below us, and when we move in they told us how the people that lived above them before used to slam their door all the time. Well, we made sure we were quiet with our door, but 10 times a day...BAM!!, these people constantly slam THEIR door!!! I jump out of my skin! LOL I know their whole schedule!!

So, soundproofing is not everything!!!!

I wouldn't doubt that 55+ complexes are well soundproofed. My husband works on many apt. complexes and they are ALL 55 and over (I am talking new construction too)...so if you are single or living with someone or newly married, why is it that you have to live in someone's house and can't afford a nice complex? The complex that he did work on that wasn't 55 and over was $1400 for a ONE bedroom

that is just ridiculous! I sympathize with you KC...I just think there needs to be more affordable housing on LI and NOT just for the seniors!!

I have got a story for you ladies!

The living room window in my parent's apartment in the very corner of the L-shaped building. The guy who used to live in the apartment next to them and whos' windows were practically facing my parent's living room (he is in the other, lower part of the Lshape) used to smoke weed all the time. So, the fumes from his apparent would go straight into my parent's living room window. Let me tell you, you could get really high just hanging out in that living room, which is what my sister and I did. A lot. Eventually the guy moved out, but he was the source of amusement for a while! Needless to say, we never complained!

That's soo funny. I guess there are pros and cons to apartment living...hahaha. I asked my landlord if we could move to a duplex, but there is a waiting list so it looks like I'm sh** out of luck. My husband's calling For Sale By Owner houses, so we can maybe get the ball rolling (maybe). I'm just afraid this is gonna get ugly. They were blasting the tv again last night. So I had a splitting headache. And me and my husbad brawl over it. So then he starts yelling, I start yelling and it makes us no better than them. Maybe I should play lotto!!! Last night we went to my dads house and I was hysterical crying that I'm in eternal apartment hell. He was telling us to move in with him, and I would but I don't know if that's such a good idea. My dad was like I wish I had a million dollars, I would buy you a house (and then started singing that lotto song) so we all had a laugh. Honestly, we are very easy going people, we put up with a lot and we dont sweat the small sh**, but now I'm being walked on.
