why is my husband so darn cold!!!

He pumps the heat up in this place like you CANNOT believe! and NOW he has two - yes TWO down comforters on the bed and like fifty pillows. I can't even FIND him in there! And the dog loves it too - she burrows underneath all that fluff! I end up sleeping on top of everything with my shirt off!

I keep telling him the dry heat is so bad for us. When I was little my dad alwasy had the heat down as low as was probably LEGAL with kids in the house. I remember eating breakfast with mittens on to prove our point! But he would say - just put on another sweater. So I guess I am used to that - this heat thing kills me! My skin is so dry I am scratching all the time....The only good thing is it makes me drink my 8 glasses of water no problem! I am parched all the time!!!

Re: why is my husband so darn cold!!!

I hear you! I HATE that dry scratchy feeling We are trying to keep the heat at a reasonable level in the house (btwn 68-72), but with these awful drafty windows, it's tough! We are working on putting plastic over some of the windows this weekend. Hopefully, that will keep the house at a more even temp!

Re: why is my husband so darn cold!!!

Try an extra large humidifier, that will add some moisture in the air and make it a little more comfortable for you. We're the opposite, he's too hot and I'm always cold!

Re: why is my husband so darn cold!!!

Our house is impossible! There is only ONE zone for heat, so if you put the heat up, the downstairs feels comfortable, but upstairs it's ROASTING. If you turn it down so you're comfy upstairs, you FREEZE downstairs.

Also, every window is drafty, so much you can actually feel a breeze blowing! The ceilings are all high, too, at least 9 or 10 feet, so it's very hard to keep the house warm.

Not to mention the thermostat is wacky, and never reads what you set it on.

It's an old house, probably built in the 1910s or 20s.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!

It's also DRY as a bone. My throat feels constantly sore.
