nope. we spent more and got a bigger diamond then what we had planned because i want to keep my ring the exact way i was married in it in

Prob not. DH wanted a larger stone but our longtime jelewer convinced him to go with near perfect clarity (since RARE when diamonds are perfect but mne is DANG close!) as opposed to size.He said my fingers are too small to carry off a huge center stone.

If anything we'd go with a whole new ring for 10-15 year anniversary or something.

definitely not. I want to keep it the way it was when he gave it to me.. I figure that if DH has enough $ to splurge and buy me a new stone, he can spend a bit more and just buy an entire new ring... Nothing can replace my 'engagement' ring.

never...i know you're not supposed to save never---but for me i know i would NEVER do it.

to each their own--but i will never ever ever understand the concept of 'upgrading' your ring. to me the e-ring that my DH gave me when he proposed....is something sacred. i would never want to show my e-ring to my kids in the future and say 'well this is mosty the ring your dad proposed with....but i wanted to go bigger and changed it a little bit'. no way---and i know that some ladies say they want to go 'bigger' when they are more finanically secure and such. but i will take great pride in showing my ring in 20 years and saying 'this is what he gave me....nothing more, nothing less...it is what he could afford....he saved his hard earned money to do it---and worked his asss off to give it to me.....and i am PROUD of it!'

yeah, i hear you!i think i would do it years later if we ever had the extra money but then again, there is always something more important to buy. like im sure all our money will go straight to a house or travel- which is more important to me than anything else.

Nope.
It is near perfect and just the right size.
If anything, I would want another band to put on, so the e-ring is sandwiched in between.
My band was custom made, so the jewler still has the mold.

My DH picked out the diamond first and then the setting. He spent a looooong time picking out the perfect one and it's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, much less had the privilege to own. I would never change anything about my ring. I hope it stays in the family for future generations.

Nope, I love my ring even though it's been referred to as 'modest'. I won't upgrade, I want some diamond stud earnings instead!!

See, I had this argument (not really argument, but discussion) with DH.

He wants to upgrade my stone, I do not! LOL
My center stone is like 1.02 carats and its pretty close to being perfect, or flawless, however you want to say it. I think its perfect, but DH wanted a bigger stone from the get go, but at the time wasn't in his budget.

I LOVE my rings and wouldn't change it for the world....I would rather put that money into saving for a house.

I love my ring but DH told me he would want to get me a bigger stone in the future but not exchange my stone .... just buy a whole new ring....

my center stone is a little over a carat and I would never change it!!!! it represents when my husband proposed and the moment our life changed forever, I could never upgrade the ring!

Not a chance. My ring is not huge, but it's MINE. That's far more important to me than the size. My center stone was passed on to DH when his grandfather died. He saved his money for weeks & went out to find a setting he knew I would love. I wouldn't change the ring that he proposed to me with for anything.

hmm...haven't really thought about this one. I understand the concept but i think it's different for everyone. personally i think i may miss the sentimental value of it - but if it's just the center stone(and i'm keeping the rest) than maybe. Honestly my hubby got me a rock lol. so i don't think i'd change a thing i love my rings! plus - making the center stone larger may look funny on the same setting???? hmm...maybe an insert down the road? i guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...but as of now i'm totally in love with it - its gorgous!

DH proposed to me twice while we were engaged for 4 years. The second time he upgraded the stone.

nope. never. the diamond was the same one his dad used to propose to his mom (when they divorced, she kept the ring, gave the diamond to DH in the form of a tie pin when he turned 18 to do with as he pleased). It's a family stone, so no way.

The only change i might make is to do a different ring cut. This one is a knife edge and my band is a round edge. The knife edge isn't the most comfortable at times. But I am lazy if nothing else, so it will probably be this way for life and I'm ok with that!
