Would you fix a wedding gown before you have it preserved or just preserve it?

Hey Girls -

I am finally ready to part with my gown to have it cleaned and preserved, but I noticed that the zipper on the back of the gown came off the track - do you think I should fix the zipper first - or just preserve the gown like it is. I don't plan on wearing it again, but its bothering me to preserve it broken.

My straps were detachable, and one of them broke at my reception. I sent away my dress this weekend, and I asked the seamstress to sew the straps permanently into the dress. I just want it done for completeness, to know my dress is perfect and whole before it is cleaned and boxed away.

I was wondering this too- I have chocolate on my dress (and probably a footprint or two) although I am still not positive i am going to preserve it... I may try one of those space bags where you suck all the air out

my cleaners got most of my stains out - you could even just have them clean it and then do what you want to do.

Yes, I had a button fixed first. When I try it on in 10 years I want it to be perfect!
