I gave an HONEST review - not a failing one - about my hair & makeup vendors, and my review was edited and the review on them removed. W T FFFFFFFF GLAD WE CAN BE HONEST HERE ABOUT VENDOR SERVICE.

How unbelievable! What is the point of giving a review if you can't be honest. I just started writing my review as well and I also wasn't happy about my hair. I feel that its my right to say so.
Its not fair that you paid for a service and did not receive what you paid for. I think other brides would want to know.

WHAT?!?! wow... i gave Mens Wearhouse a D.... i wonder if MINE was edited
Probably not, it's only vendors from this website.
Ohhh i see... wow yeah that is really messed up!!
if vendors dont want a poor review, then DO YOUR JOB!!! i would think that LIW wouldnt even want to be associated with a vendor that does poor work

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Its getting worse and worse.
Honestly as of late, it feels like these boards are governed by the vendors with no regard to the feelings of the brides-to-be/brides. I guess I can see why since they pay to advertise on here (at least some of them) but I do think its crappy
Just because they pay doesn't mean they should have the right to edit their own reviews. And liweddings should say no to that also.
i agree with you but Im just saying, this site is obviously showing us they cater more to the vendors because theyre putting money in their pockets. What I dont get is, there are sites like Yelp where people like us can write reviews for restaurants, spas, dept stores and a lot of places get very bad reviews. Why cant Yelp be sued? Im very confused about this.

Re: WOW I am P I S S E D
Wow this is such BS. Why do they even have a Brides Review board when its edited to say what they want?! Thats not a review and will not help any brides in the future. I understand that the vendors pay money but if they suck, we should be able to be honest about it and not have other brides get screwed too. I mean, does LIW test out these vendors before they put them on the site to see if they are actually very good and worth defending? Probably not!

Re: WOW I am P I S S E D
But if you weren't happy - and I know you and many other 08 brides who used them felt the same way you did, maybe LIW should revisit with them and reconsider them as a preferred vendor.
$1,000 is not chump change on hair and make-up to just take one for the team and give a rave review if you thought it S U C K ED.
JMO.
ITA!
I also think the vendor asked them to remove it bc I have seen other vendors on here with eh (c)reviews that were not removed...or maybe it's just getting worse

I agree w/you too...this site def caters to their vendors bec of money. I think it's because vendors are afraid it'll hurt their advertising to get new clients...do those places pay Yelp to advertise or does everyone just write their opinions?

Well because of this practice; Heather AND Karin AND probably many other brides for that matter never saw a mediocre or negative review of this vendor, and for that they were so terribly unhappy with a major, major expense of the wedding. Which I might add this 'regret' is a permanent reminder to the bride in her wedding photos!
This particular expense is not a small detail of a brides day in terms of her whole 'look', IMO this is a close second, obviously the dress being first. It's a whole package deal and when one thing is not the way you were told, or envisioned, or the way it was done in a trial then yeah, you're gonna be ticked off and you have every right to be!
Hell, look what happened to JTeach - she gave a bad review and got the boot.
I'm really sorry this happened - I totally agree in modifying your review to say FM me for more details!

Re: WOW I am P I S S E D
So although I know this will probably get pulled...
I hate the fact that our honest opinions don't count. I agree with previous posters that if these things would have been listed in people's reviews, you would not have booked with that particular vendor. It s u c k s that just because they pay a fee they have the overall say on your opinion of their service. The messed up part is as someone mentioned in the past our weddings are over, there is no money to be made off us - so what does it matter what we have to say? I never thought that this site would turn like that or maybe in the midst of the planning we just never noticed how everything was so positive. I guess from a business perspective they would rather please the people that are bringing them income instead of people that just type on the boards (no matter how many vendors from this site we may have used).
Heather remember what happened when you and I wrote about our floral experience.

It really suucks and it's not fair to us. What about all the paid advertisers on expedia or other travel sites that get reviews? Those don't get removed!

Yes I totally agree! I really believe this is unfair! Especially when other brides use this site for the purpose of the reviews??

Such a good point. We all use these sites to book our vacations because they give peoples honest opinion. Why cant this be a site with honest reviews?! i just dont get it.

Re: WOW I am P I S S E D
I just did some research and found an article about a guy who got sued because of his review of a chirporactor on YELP. It was pretty interesting and this was the outcome of the suit:
Unfortunately, nobody but the lawyers. Biegel’s claim that the post was libelous and caused him to suffer “loss of reputation, shame, mortification, and hurt feelings,” as well as “injury to his business and profession,”, sort of pales in comparison to the amount of damage that the suit itself and all the negative press has caused. A philosopher would throw the case out on those grounds alone. The legal expense and stress on Norberg must be fairly extensive. Was the settlement a blow to bloggers and reviewers? I don’t think so. I think there were some gray areas in the language Norberg used, and ultimately neither party wanted to drag this case out any further. But let it be known that lawsuit won’t stop consumers from sharing our thoughts, feelings and opinions about the products, services and practices of the companies with whom we do business.
Theyre pretty much saying, suing someone over their freedom of speech hurt the guys business more. Its really stupid and vendors need to suck it up, especially wedding vendors

I was going to say that people can sue for defamation. When I finally get my review up, the people I am not happy with I will just say I used these vendors and was not happy with the service provided. If people want more info, email me! This way it takes it away from LIW and they aren't involved.
