Re: wwyd
well it depends on the situation... is it spank/hand slap or a backhand across the face?ive never seen the latter so i dont know how i would react...
i usually just give dirty looks... im dont necessarily disagree with that kind of punishment... but im not a fan of that happening in public...

Re: wwyd
if it's something that could be considered abuse, then you should call the cops.if the child is truly abused, then you will have saved their lives ... and if it was just a misunderstanding, then they'll go home and all will be normal.

Ugh~this happened to me a couple of weeks ago- the lady was across the street from me and slapped the living crap out of her kid in a stroller. I said nothing~but wish that I did.

Re: wwyd
i've seen both. a few years ago, i saw a lady beating the crap out of her 12 year old son. it still haunts me that i never did anything about that. i was afraid to.i've seen parents give slaps to the face and punches to the back. what's worse is that im a mandated reporter but once again, im afraid for my safety when on the street. it never works out like they say it should when you take the class, ya know? I've reported kids I work with but not outside.

I'm a mandated reporter too. I know the feeling. Honestly, I think for me it depends on the severity of the situation.

Re: wwyd
I wouldnt do nothing (tho I never saw anything like u describe)maybe selfish, but my personal safety and those I love is most important to me.
plus - and I really believe so - usually the good Samaritan the one that gets screwed over in the end. no good deed goes unpunished

Re: wwyd
I tend to stray towards 'don't tell other people how to raise their children'...if only because it makes people really angry (and I can relate, since it really chaps my azz when someone tries to tell me how to raise my kid)...BUT...if someone were really beating the tar out of their kid, I'd call the cops anonymously...I wouldn't say anything to the person about it.

Re: wwyd
If you really think the child is in danger, I would make an anonymous phone call to 911. If people are sick enough to beat their children, I wouldn't want to know what they'd do to a stranger, so I defiantly wouldn't approach them!
