LOL - I'm the opposite - I used to do that to DH! He used to get mad at me for it too because he said it made him look like the bad guy. But often I was doing it because I knew he would say no and I didn't want to be the one to say no. That could be the reason he's doing it too. It's unfair though...tell him to say something like 'let me see if we are busy this weekend' or something like that. Or, if HE wants to say no, tell him to say no for himself.

My DH ALWAYS blames me for things. lol! Whenever he doesn't want to do something he'll say something like, 'well Nicole and I are just going to stay in tonight' even if I would hav rathr gone out.

Re: I HATE when this happens...
I found out last year that DH was using me as an excuse not to go out. A certain friend of ours would ask us to go out and he would tell them that I wasn't feeling well. When I got to know this girl better she had mentioned it and said that she either thought I was a sickly person or just didn;t want to hang out with her. I was so annoyed!! I told DH at least use a different excuse every once in awhile and don't use ME!! If you don't want to go out just tell them YOU don't feel well or something. Weirdo!
He also does the 'Let me ask Tracy' thing with his parents for Sunday dinners. Usually HE'S the one that doesn't want to go but doesn't want to tell them that. So it looks like I'm the bad guy. I told him it's ok to tell them the truth, that you just don't want to go.

My DH does this to me ALL the time - His friends must think I'm really some sort of b*tch!
