We weren't sure. We had agreed to revisit the issue once I hit 30. But I got PG on the HM. Our baby boy is now 9 weeks old. So much for not being sure!

Re: Children

Sometimes, I think I do and then I babysit for my young nieces and I change my mind. But most likely in about five years I probably will. I think I'll be ready for one then. I will have had my fun and enjoyed doing things that I would normally not be able to do when you have a child.

I wrote a post about this awhile back...similar to yours, Wish I could find it.

We are unsure...and it's normal to feel that way. We both feel the same way and I think if one of us really wanted them and the other didn't know, then it might be an issue. But we are both on the same page. Sometimes we say we can see ourselves having one child. Just one, though!

Re: Children

We agreed on the same thing. To have just one. I see how my nieces are when they are together and they are wild. I think it will be nicer to have just one.

Of course you're not a bad person! My SIL and aunt are both married and both never had children. Its a very personal choice. It would be worse IMO to do something, especially of this magnitude, just because you thought it was the next step or you felt obligated.

Children aren't for everyone. Because someone doesn't want any, that doesn't make them a bad person. I may not want them at all in five years at all, I haven't decided yet. I am going to see how I feel then. Right now, I am enjoying the freedom to go on vacation any time I want. To some that maybe selfish, but I don't think there is anything wrong with enjoying the life that you have and not wanting to change certain things in it, drastically none the less. It is a personal preferance, I agree. I hate when people say it is selfish. Because it is not.

Re: Children

we go back and forth. So right now we are totally unsure. I have moments where I really want a child(ren) but they are fleeting. I usually quickly return to a point where I think that having them is just not something we will do. I love our life. We both do. And we're a bit selfish in that, we like our alone time, and we like doing what we want, when we want. When you have a kid, that doesn't happen anymore. Your life will always revolve around your child(ren). So....

I have no clue!

My sentiments exactly. There are times when I think they are so cute and how I would like one. But then I think, they aren't for show, they aren't a doll. They are a life long commitment. After telling myself that I wake up and realize, right now, thay are not for me. Plus, I don't know if I could deal with the teenage years. I think a lot of people have kids for the wrong reasons. I don't want to do that to a child.

Actually I'm not sure I want them at all! Hope that doesn't make me sound like a bad person or something.

You're not a bad person...DH and I feel the same way. You have to do what's best for you and your husband. People give DH and I weird looks when we say we don't know if we want any children, but ultimately, it's no one else's business.

I think it's more selfsh to have a kid 'just because' that's what 'everyone else' does. What kind of life would that be for an innocent child? Ugh. I hate those people too!

That's funny, I just edited my posted to say that. I know exactly what you mean.

we def. want children, but we're only 24 years old and right now we are just having fun and doing whatever we want. we want to be more settled....right now we're just doing our own thing and we are going to decide later on.....it's a HUGE lifelong responsibility and once they're here, you can't return them! LOL

Sometimes I wonder if I want children also. It doesnt make you a bad person. Its better to know what you want than to have kids and be resentful about it. I have very little patience and watch what mothers go through and worry if I would make a good mother. My SIL tell me that patience automatically comes when your child is born. DH, however, wants 3 kids and is good with them(he has 2 nieces and 1 nephew) But for now we both want to enjoy our lives together (we are only 24) and will talk more seriously about it in another 4 or 5 years.
