So I am leaving on a business trip tomorrow- my cheap a$$ company booked me on Delta- they now charge $15 per bag to check it- so here is my question- would you expect your company to reimburse you for the $15 check bag fee?

Re: Your opinion
Yes I would expect a reimbursement since its a requirement of your business travel.
If they don't reimburse you -- save it as part of business expense write offs for tax time

Re: Your opinion
Yes, it is a travel expense. You can always submit it on your expense report for the trip as T&E.

Re: Your opinion
yes, I would expect it. But I'm the type who gets awkward asking for money or reimbursement (even when I'm entitled). Especially since it's only $15. But I think it is something you should get.

Re: Your opinion
I'm gonna ask because I already have to shell out money that I wont get reimbursed for- the cab to the airport- $40- they expect our family to drive us and my cab ride home

I worked in the Expense Dept at CA for 3 years, and we always reimbursed this to the employee. It's not an expense for an overweight bag, it's the airline company & the EE isn't responsible for that charge.

Absolutely, when you travel on business tey should pay for everything and reimburse you for every expense incurred including the check bag fee.

Without a doubt!!!! You wouldn't have incurred the fee if you didn't have to travel for your job.

Wow, the people here expense the $15 fee, the cab fare and if by some off chance someone in their family does drive them they expense the mileage and bridge tolls R/T going to and from the airport...ie...from my home to the airport and back home at the beginning of the trip and the same for the end of the trip. They also expense their daily coffee habits too.

Re: Your opinion
I just can't beleive they don't want to reimburse you for the cab ride either!!!
You are incurring these expenses because they need you to travel.
If they end up being hard a$$es then just keep all your reciepts and claim them as unreimburesed business expenses on your income tax.

That's crazy marybeth. You wouldn't be GOING to the airport if not for the business trip - what if you live alone and have no family to take you? God forbid they have JOBS too.

Re: Your opinion
I work for a bank and DH works for a tobacco company and they pay for flights, checked bags, cabs, car service, food, coffee, everything and anything when you travel so I would think it should be covered. Do you work for a large company?
