Your opinion on Miss Cali's Answer on Gay Marriage

For those of you who didnt see it last night. It went like this:

Perez Hilton: “Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”

Miss Dumb: 'We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised.'

There were reports of boos coming from the audience. A first in pageant history. There was also a lot of applause.

We live in a land where we can choose same-sex marriage or 'opposite' marriage. First of all, wasnt the question about whether other states should follow in the footsteps of Vermont? Meaning NO WE CANNOT choose you stupid ditz. Secondly, what is opposite marriage? Isnt that divorce?

Its fine with me that she stated her opinion but it could have at least been an intelligent answer.

I don't think she had any balls at all. She simply repeated the same c r a p Biden and Palin said in their debate and added a Bush Twist. mad:

The way I see it is she was not some random girl walking down the street when someone randomly shoved a microphone in her face and asked her to answer that question. This tard knew she was going on TV and had been preparing for this moment for months. There is no excuse. She's an idiot. The only time I feel bad for these girls is when they trip and fall.

Well shes the one who looked like an idiot. There were many ways she could have answered that question without getting into her religious opinion

what an idiot lol, at least it wasnt as bad as the one who answered the question about africa, or was asked something completely different and she rambled on about africa. I didn't understand a word of what she was trying to say, well nobody did.

I guess nobody coached her on how to answer these questions.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's perfectly ok for her to be raised that way and it's perfectly ok for her to state that she was raised that way.

she didn't say 'i hate gays!' or 'they don't deserve to marry' she just said 'the way I was raised was that it should be a man and a woman'

My mom is gay. I love her to death and I was a flower girl / bm in her wedding (to a woman) a few years back. If two people OF ANY SEX choose to make a commitment to each other thats perfectly fine and honorable. However, for me...I choose to marry a man. I'm not into women and beyond that...I do believe on a religious and genetic level man and woman should be together...but on the same note...religion and genetics are sometimes not strong enough to win over matters of the heart. I could also see how it would be easy for a woman to fall in love with another woman...I mean...hell...I grew up with it. I don't knock it...but it's just not for me. what goes on in another persons heart or bedroom is not my business nor my concern.

point is...I don't see that she knocked it in a negative way...so why is her opinion or upbringing being torn apart? (and I don't mean by any of you personally...I mean in general by the public)

ETA: no matter how much coaching you get...when somebody catches you off guard in front of a crowd of people thats being filmed for viewers worldwide...it's not easy. I'm sure most of us would have flubbed up our words trying to think of a non offensive way to answer the question.

I guess...but you never know what was going through her mind. I've always been a very intelligent person...but lately...I've been having more 'brain farts' than usual where I can't remember certain words or peoples names that I should be able to spit out quickly. Sometimes it makes me say things in a funny way because I lost the proper words I wanted to use. It's not out of stupidity...maybe it's stress or health related, I dunno. I just know I've had those kind of moments where you just lose your words and ur grasping and you spit out whatever u can before people think ur a freak because you can't put a sentence together. it happens.

People can have conservative ideas and ideals and NOT just be blindly following whatever Republican people are bashing at that given moment. Maybe it really was how she feels. . . ((btw I think she is an idiot but she could be her OWN idiot and not just some follower)) Actually in this case, I feel she could have taken the easy way out and just said she supports gay marriage. . .would that have made her some Obama groupie then?

i agree with Cassandra - questions like these are SO tough because u just can't please everyone..and they can't pick a happy medium because then they're not answering the question. I think she def. got jumbled by the nerves of the topic & tried too carefully to word how she felt...she DEFINETLY sounded stupid.lol

On the other hand - these pageant girls prepare all year..and being that this is a HUGE issue right now in our country, it's definetly a question she should've prepared herself for.

whatever - i think no matter what those women are standing in front of the world..and regardless of how much u prepare, nerves will ALWAYS be there to try in trying present everything perfect..it's just who's better at covering them up & controlling them lol..obviously she was not!

Like he said, why not talk about why this country is so great, and how states have the opportunity to choose separately. And also throw in that she comes from a very religious background and doesnt necessarily agree with it? Thats fine. She didnt have to compromise anything. She just didnt have to come off like an idiot.

Thats true. I guess it is what she was TRYING to say. I just couldnt get through the stupid language.

yea I'm not really willing to let him off the hook that easily. He called her that because he disagreed with her and thats stupid- he's been slandering her all over the news to anyone who will listen and really what did the poor girl do wrong
