I think if the doctor is good , it probably should matter of sex. I personally am just more comfortable with a man ... I donno why I have herd quite the opposite though.

Either way I loath the entire experience

Re: your thoughts on a male OBGYN.....

ive been to both. I had no problem going to a male gynecologist or else i never would have gone. I was somebody that seriously used to CONSTANTLY change gynecologists, many of them annoyed me about something and i would just get upset and try somebody new.

The first one i used to go to was a man. I changed him simply bc he wouldnt really answer my questions, it was more like OK youre done-NEXT!!!! at first this was fine but one day when i had an important question, i walked out of there with no answer, he kinda just went around in circles. But what made me stop going is that one time my bf at the time came with me to an appointment, while he was out in the waiting room, this lady that worked there was talking out loud about what was on my file, personal stuff and my bf told me what she said. I dont think she should've discussed ANY info of mine out loud like that

Next one also a male, his office was insane, i would get there and there would be no room to sit in the waiting room and i would have to wait in the hallway for 2 hours. He had an attitude problem so didnt like that at all.

Next i went to a woman. She was very nice but one time i did a full culture. She left me a VM saying she had the results so to call her, i got scared that something was wrong bc thats when they call. I called her back and the receptionist kept saying she was busy, i left messages with my number and she didnt get back to me. This went on for days until i finally did get a hold of her and there was nothing wrong. I think she handled that situation badly

Now i go to a female gynecologist. She is absolutely great, really sits and talks to you about things and answers all questions. Makes me feel very comfortable. Ive actually been going to her now for a few years

so for me its not about whether its a male or female its about how they treat me.

I go to either- there are two gyno's in the office I go to - one male, one female- so I just go to who ever is avail.

yeah i totally agree!!

the first 2 gynos i went to were female & i DID NOT like them at all! one of them would make really inappropriate comments about what my *ahem* insides looked like as she was examining me!!

the second female was soooooo rough with me

Good for you, $5 is not bad at all. Glad it worked out

yeah $125 seems to be the norm for a doctors visit. S*cks when you have to pay for it i know, but the diflucan should work so thats something positive.

i remember this one time i went to get treated for a yeast infection & she goes 'WOAH you do not want to know how much yeast is covering the inside of your vagina right now'

all i could think was, umm was that statement really necessary?!?!

Re: your thoughts on a male OBGYN.....

one time I had a male doctor bring me in his office and talk to me about my sex life and he wanted a full break down as to how many partners I had

He started to also lecture me about being selective about what partners I might chose in the future Talk about bazaar and uncomfortable. At the time I was about 20 maybe - I got very intimidated by this and when I left I was angry

Needless to say he also told me I had one of the cleanest puchunies he ever saw
WT F.. was that necessary

I knew I would not return to this mad man. Needless to say I got a letter sometime later that is was gone from the practice and they were introducing another doctor and it was time for my yearly exam
I found out later on that he was dimissed from the pratice a patient reported him for sexual advances on her

Funny that I still chose a man after this experience..I think b/c he is pretty quick, gentle and has a wonderful reputation. PROBLEM: Takes over 3 months to get an appointment

ETA:I went to him orginally for a yeast infection when I went back that is when he made that comment to me!!!

OMG that is horrible, and especially at 20 years old i think you handle things differently and can see why you were intimidated.

Its disgusting how he acted, and wasnt surprised to see he was reported for sexual harassment.

Yea I had to Edit b/c I realized I forgot to mention the yeast infection issue .. and when I read through your posts on this thread.. It all came back to me about the clean part when I returned.
He was insinuating that my partner or partners might had been dirty .. that gave me the infection. and is the man circumcised I was with .. blah blah..

You know he actually told me to come back with a list of the people I slept with
TRUE STORY .. really.

When I think of this now.. WHAT A TOOL

wow so glad to hear he is not practicing anymore, there was no reason he needed a list from you. What a moron, does he not know the most common ways to get an yeast infection lol, my friend got one when she was still a virgin.

it doesn't make any sense, dont see why he needed a list, probably just for his own sick kicks he got out of it. The only time i was asked about the number of ppl i slept with was when i took an HIV test, and even then they didnt want a list of all the people just wanted to know a number before i took the test.
