I prefer male and Ill tell you why. I feel like a woman will always think she KNOWS what youre feeling. A man doesnt have the same equipment so he cant feel like he can relate to whatever problem a woman is having. Ive had women docs and did not like any of them. My GYN is a male and Ive been with him for over 5 years now.

WOW! there are so many ppl who feel the same way i do!! i never would have thought!!
I've had both but love my current one now and she's a woman. I've been going to her for about 5 years and she's fantastic. To be honest, I don't think sex matters, I think it's that actually dr, whether they're good or not.
This thread is making me rethink my decision. I had been going to a male for about 8 years and i loved him. Anyway, a few friends and FH all thought it was sooooo weird that i went to a male so i started going to a female recently. I didnt dislike her but i felt like the male doctor was more caring and sympathetic. Maybe i need to rethink this again.

i have been going to the same obgyn since i 1st started going8-9 yrs ago, the 1st time i went she made me feel comfy and i have never changed it is a female, i do think that if i ever had to change it would be try to get another feamle

Male gynos ONLY for me. my mom was the same way---i dunno. for me, i feel a man has been more sympathetic to me--like if i see a woman she's gonna say 'oh that's nothing -- i've been thru it'
my mom always used to tell me that reason she went to a man is because :
'I don't want to go to a woman and she looks at my coochie and thinks that HERS is prettier!!'![]()

I had a female gyn when i first started going to one and she made me so uncomfortable and made a huge deal that i wasnt on pills and just always made me feel bad so i stopped going to her and have been going to a male gyn since and i love him and his demeanor. i think it all depends on the person some men ive seen at my gyn have been plain out rude as well
Female for me... but Ive been referred to male specialists before and as long as they are good I have no complaints....
I've been to both and much prefer a female OBGYN. I feel like a male doctor doesn't have the same stuff so it's harder for him to REALLY understand what I'm feeling or going through etc. I had a dr. I really loved down by Prince Street but they stopped taking my insurance so for the past couple of years I've been seeing a new dr. in midtown - I like her, but she def gives priority to her prego patients which makes me feel less important, but I'm too lazy to switch docs at this point, lol. In the end, I think it comes down the person, what type of dr. they are, how they are with their patients... but all things equal, I would prefer a female dr. over a male.

i have had very bad experiences with female OBGYN's... i have been going to a male OBGYN for about 3 years now & LOVE HIM!!!
everyone thinks i'm crazy when i say i feel more comfortable with a male OBGYNi was interested to hear everyone elses thoughts/preferences....
