How far?

is your ceremony from your reception?

My guests will be going from Huntington to Oakdale (30 min. +), but they'll have 2 hours to kill in between anyway!

Re: How far?

My ceremony is 40 minutes from my reception hall . My ceremony is in Bklyn and my hall is in Massapequa. They have about 2 1/2 hours to spare before my pre-cocktail hour starts. But I figured that by the time we took our pictures, said our hellos and have everyone throw roses and blow bubbles it should be about 3:30-3:45 p.m. So I figured that gives people enough time to get there in case there is traffic.

Re: How far?

Our ceremony is at the same place as the reception, and we are going straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour. Maybe 10-20 minutes of photos in between, while the guests start the cocktail hour

Re: How far?

About 15 minutes. Our ceremony starts and 4pm and the reception starts at 7pm. I am always running late so maybe that will help with the big time gap.

Re: How far?

Why Jen? Are you worried about the length of time in between??

I was soo worried, butyou know what.. it's inevitable.. people will know that from the invitation alone..

Re: How far?

My ceremony is in Queens Village reception is in Stewart Manor about 10-15 min. There will be about a 2 hours in-between. For the people who are travelling from a distance I'm going to tell them a pub they can go to while they wait.

Re: How far?

Marcella,
Yeah I was initially, but Kevin and I figured that our guests could either walk around Huntington Village (get a drink or browse at the shops), which is where we're getting married, or go to our house which is less than 5 minutes away.

And like you said, it's inevitable...the guests will work it out.

Re: How far?

I was all worried about it, but you know what it's YOUR day and if they have a problem with it, then they can just come to the reception.. I'll have more than enough immediate family there you know..

Looking back at all the other weddings I've been too, with an exception of the cer/rec in the same place, there has always been a big time lapse between venues.. there's nothing you can do about it.. like they say 'good things come to those who wait!' lol

Re: How far?

My hall is about 30 minutes from my church, but there will only be 1 hour inbetween - good for the guests, not so good for me! I'm stressed about missing my cocktail hour! Thankfully, our pictures are at our hall and the cocktail hour is on lthe deck right next to the garden, so we'll kind of be there!
