04 Brides

Just checking up on my fellow 04 Brides, wanting to see if any of us have done anything new and also just to say hi.

New things:
Brought my BMs each a BM hankie and a little BM book
Going to order 'Ring for a Kiss' bells
Found the dress that I want but I just need to go into the store and look at it

That is what has been going on with me.

Re: 04 Brides

haven't done anything new here. I am going to start dress shopping by the summer. We are going to start house hunting then too. I think that will be a bit depressing!!!
I have my place, band, and church. I am going to use Burtons, but haven't booked yet.

So far I've booked the hall and church and have started looking for DJs. Will probably start looking for photographers next.

Re: 04 Brides

We booked our hall and the church

We know who we are going to use for a DJ and a photographer. We just have book them

Bugstress: I looked at 10 halls and they all told me that people are starting to book for 2004 and even 2005. I had to get married in the summer (I'm a teacher) so wanted to lock in a certain date. I would start to look and get ideas and book at least 18 months prior to the wedding to make sure you get the place you want.

good luck

Re: 04 Brides

I got engaged in May. By August we booked the Chateau Briand for May 2004. I ordered my dress about 2 weeks ago and I'm starting to look for a band or dj. DJ's are less $$ but I like bands. This will probably be the toughest decision.

Hi! I am getting married in May 04. So far, I booked the hall and the church. I started looking for a dress and found one I love, but I am still looking, just to make sure. I have made appointments with a few djs, but thats all I've done. I plan to send save the date cards, does anyone know when I should send them? Thanks!!

Re: 04 Brides

I booked the hall and church. We are making a decision on video & photography next week. FINALLY!!!
I would suggest seeing these vendors now before they raise their prices for 2003. So many told me that. Then in two weeks we will visit florists. I already know the dress I have an appt next Sunday so that should be off my list soon too.

I wonder...who is the first in 2004? I am 3/5.

Re: 04 Brides

We got engaged on Valentine's Day Weekend and by the following week we already had our Church and Hall. The girls are right, if you book now you pay the prices of now. That is the reason why we booked everythin so early. In March we booked the DJ and the Videographer and in towards the end of the summer we booked our photographer and limos. We have already taken our engagement picture, so that we could get it out of the way (as soon as I get it scanned, I will post it). Next September we are going to book the florist. I know who I want to use already.

I would at least look into the vendors that you want, and try to leave them at least a small deposit so that they can hold your date. Popular vendors book fast plus you will save by paying 2002 prices instead of 2003 prices.

Re: 04 Brides

NYLISA- you booked limos already? A couple that I saw at a showcase said we shouldn't worry about it till after next yr.
Probably so they could get more money out of us!
That will be December's mission. Thanks for letting us know that b/c that could save FH and I a few more dollars.

Re: 04 Brides

We booked our Limos through our photographer so we got a good price plus we figured that since he is the boss and he is taking our pictures that booking from would be better. Also, again like we know that if we book now, we pay prices of now. You work at your pace. If you want to book Limos now or anything else that you have not booked yet, do so. Don't let anyone tell you that you have time. You might have time but I think that it is better to save yourself some money by booking now.

Well I haven't done anything new except order my dress...I already have the Hall, Church, Band, Video and photographer. I also picked out my china, stemware and flatware. I'm starting to look for the bm dresses now.
Happy Planning.

Re: 04 Brides

Marcel1654, Yes. We also got engaged on Feb. 16th. How did it happen? Where? Did you know? Share the details of the reason why we are all here together.

Re: 04 Brides

WOW!! Same date! I didn't have a clue! It happened in my house.
Ok here it goes. We had not done anything for Valentine's Day because I had a class on Thursdays that ran until 8:30 and we had to work the next day. So we ended up going to a restaurant and had a few drinks. I also told him not to get spend money on flowers, so we just exchanged cards on Valentine's day and decided to go celebrate V day on Saturday and go out to dinner. Well on Saturday, we were supposed to leave at 6pm and he shows up at my house at aroundn 5:50 (I was ****ed because I was thinking-doesn't he know I have 10 more mins to get ready-LOL ). So I open my door and there he is with three flowers. He says 'did you really think I wouldn't get you flowers for Valentine's Day'?. So he gives me the roses, he says the white on is for the past (he was my first boyfriend, we started going out when I was 13, he was 16 then we broke up 3 years later and we got back together March 2002; we were each other's first loves-he lives next door); the pink one for the present and the red one for the future. So I go upstairs and start putting the roses in a vase. When I finally get to the red rose(the future one) and unwrap it, my ring was attached by a ribbon to the red rose. I turned around and said 'you've got to be kidding'. He says 'If you'll have me'. Of course I said YES YES YES!!
I have never seen him so nervous. He didn't get on one knee but I didn't mind because i'm sure he would not have been able to get up. HAHAHAHHAHAHA

Sorry it's so long. So what about yours????

Re: 04 Brides

First let me start by saying that I knew that it was coming. I just did not know how was going to propose or where. We decided to go to Montauk for the weekend. Right there I figured out that it was going to be that weekend. On Sat. the 16th, we went out for dinner. He had us sitting by the fireplace in the restaurant. What I did not know was that when we called to make the reservations, he told them where he wanted to sit and why. Anyway, during dinner I kept bugging him about when was he going to give me my ring. When I got up to go to the ladies room, he told the tables by us and all the waitresses what he was going to do when I returned from the ladies room. When I returned, he told me to turn around and close my eyes. When I opened my eyes, he was on one knee in front of me. He asked me if I would marry him. First I said no, he said ok no problem and started to close the box. I said I am just kidding. Then we hugged and kissed. The whole restaurant clapped. I was so embrassed. The matre d' sent over a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate.

I am sorry that mine is long too.

Re: 04 Brides

We booked our hall, we have narrowed down the list to 2 for photographers & video, blocked hotel rooms as probably 60% of our guests will be coming from California, I know what dresses I'd like the BM's to wear and they all seem to agree on it so far, I'm looking at centerpieces I'd like for reception but need to find a decent florist that won't be too budget breaking! I'm looking at dresses but am apprehensive about buying yet because I'm still trying to lose some post baby weight. Ugh! I have no idea as far as DJ's go. Ummm, I think that's it.
