Just checking up on my fellow 04 Brides, wanting to see if any of us have done anything new and also just to say hi.
New things: Brought my BMs each a BM hankie and a little BM book Going to order 'Ring for a Kiss' bells Found the dress that I want but I just need to go into the store and look at it
That is what has been going on with me.

Re: 04 Brides
Welcome AimDom! This is a great thread, it's nice to chat with people who are on the same timeline that you're on. I agree with these guys that you should try and figure out what kind of reception you would like and look at reception halls. We are actually (hopefully) booking our florist tomorrow. Already booked our photographer & video, and are starting to look at bands.
Speaking of looking at dresses, what kind of dress are you all thinking of getting? I know I want an A-line dress, maybe with little sleeves, I'm not sure about strapless. I have blond curly hair so I was thinking of a dress w/gold embroidery on the top part (I saw one like that in a magazine which I pulled). I have a feeling though that I will get something completely different once I actually start shopping!

Re: 04 Brides
I was so afraid of not getting my wedding date!!! Because we wanted June, I knew I'd have to book early. That's one of the reasons we're getting married in '04. And when I started looking, my date was already taken at Fox Hollow - and that was in September that I went there - a year and 10 mos. early!

Re: 04 Brides
I'm looking at and A-line dress, strapless that sort of gathers at the sides. If I can find a pictres online I'll post it.
I have a big bust and I would like a dress that acentuates the postive and helps eliminate the negative hench the strapless/gathering combination.

Re: 04 Brides
You should definitely look into the hall. I booked my church and hall back in Feb. (when I got engaged) and by the end of March I had the videographer, photographer, DJ, Limo, parents gifts brought, unity candle purchased and some of the bridal party gifts already brought. Ask Chippa, what happened when she went to book her hall. She could not get one of the rooms that she wanted because some else had that room. That some else is me.

Re: 04 Brides
You know I had to promise my FI that I wouldn't do any more planning after the reception hall until like July of this year cause he said I was over doing it and he couldn't take it. Cause we needed to enjoy the engagement. Thank god I have you guys!

Re: 04 Brides
I had to push my FI to get into booking the vendors. The only thing besides our cermony & reception that he is interested in is bands. He may drive me completely crazy with that! I guess I'll find out Monday, we both took off a day off work to go to 3 band appointments!

Re: 04 Brides
I'm thinking I'll have to book the vendors myself and just be like ummm...honey btw we already have a photographer, videographer, reception hall, and limos. All he is really interested in is the DJ, and the minister.

Re: 04 Brides
Peter has been pretty involved in everything. He's says he doesn't want to get involved, but then becomes more invoved than me Then before we make any decisions, he says 'ask the girls on Liweddings to see what they think' LOL!
Also, I'm the cheap one. He NEVER sticks to the budget. I always have to remind him.

Re: 04 Brides
Carl has gotten so involved I wonder if he is the bride and I am the groom sometimes! What I do love is that he gives me his opinion, either positive or negative and tops it with 'That's just my opinion but you know more about this than I do'. He comes with me to ALL the appts and doesn't mind one bit. Sometimes he asks questions that I don't have written down or comes up with something else that we can do.

Re: 04 Brides
I called the city and found out that Domestic partners is recognized that you and your significant other are considered a couple. It also said you can be straight, green, pink, gay,or elderly. My Fh is a teacher and his insurance plan recognizes domestic partners. All you have to do is prove that you live at the same address and share accounts together etc. It cannot be done in Nassau county. You also pay a fee and then you can apply for the insurance that your partner has. I am paying over $3,500 a year for private insurance that barely covers anything, I will not take an HMO, I did my masters thesis on this and they are not for me. Since we are paying for the wedding ourselves, it will save us a bundle. Hopefully I will not need to use the insurance, but you never know. I do not know about the tax side of it, I am going to try to find out. PS I became an aunt tonight to FH brother and sister in laws second baby! It was a boy, 7pounds, 10 oz!!!!

Melissa: My deepest sympathy for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. If you need anything, don't hesitate.
Aimdom: Welcome aboard! It is so nice to have this thread because you can talk about things with people who understand because they are getting married the same time you are!
Princess: Congrats!!

Re: 04 Brides
Just wanted to bump us to the first page. Looking forward to spending the day relaxing, my FH went to the Jets playoff game. Playoff or not he is nuts to go in this weather. But boys will be boys. Trying to figure out if I should go back to my natural color of my hair for the wedding or keep it going with the highlights. Is anyone else having this problem trying to figure it out about what do to with there hair color for the day of the wedding? Also, how do you pick a veil? I have been looking for a few monhs and cannot find one I like, does it just hit you like the dress, you know it is the right one?

Hi Ladies!!
I booked my florist today, yeah! I'm very excited. After seeing a centerpiece they featured, I'm pretty sure now that I will have black bridesmaid dresses, since the one I really liked had bright flowers in it, sorry just needed to share!!

Re: 04 Brides
I already bought my dress. Its Maggie Sottero Dion I wear 36DD, and it looks great on me! It gathers on the side and is A-line. Just what you are looking for I got mine at Bridal Suite in Centereach. It comes in white and ivory. It also has blue crystals on it. Let me know if you have any questions!!!
Good luck!

Re: 04 Brides
Yeah pretty quiet here also. I wanted to book photo this weekend, but FI is working and they are closed tomorrow anyway. I guess I'll go this week to do it. I just want to get it done already so I can rest from planning for a while.
