We registered now because we sent out engagement announcements and are moving in together in a few months. We had alot of fun, even though there's stuff on there like a fondue pot which I will most likely never ever use. Right now I'm just trying to get ideas, like the color of the bridesmaids dresses (I'm thinking long &black) and booking vendors. There's alot to do, so regardless of some people driving me crazy about the wedding date we picked being 'far away' I'm really glad that we have some time to do everything we need to and save the money which we'll need!

Re: 04 Brides
I hate getting those comments about 'why such a long engagement!' I don't feel the need to justify myself to complete strangers. People can be so rude sometimes. I don't think people realize that in less in a month we will be in the year 2003 and 2004 is around the corner. Personally, I have a lot going on within the next year (graduating and finding a job) and I wanted time to plan a stress free wedding. Anyone else getting those comments about a 'long engagement'

I get those comments all the time! And people make faces at me when I tell them what I have booked or plan on doing! Like it is so bad that I am trying to get things done! As for registering, we haven't yet. We tried one day when he came home, but it wasn't enough time, so we will do it next time he has leave. I do have a waffle maker my grandmother gave us, which is so nice! I am dying to get the perfect pancake! I haven't started to look at housewares all the time, but I am starting to cook more. I made my first pot of sauce last week and my first lasagne! I am becoming domestic! How is everyone doing with planning?

Re: 04 Brides
People don't realize that in 3 weeks 2003 will be here. Time flies. I love that I am getting married in 2004. My cousin got engaged a few months before me and is getting married next year and I feel like I have so much time to enjoy my engagement. Going to bridal shows, showcases, looking at vendors, having my choice of vendors (where she risks the vendors she wants being booked), things like that. I like the length of our engagement. I think its pefect...befoe we know it, 2004 will be here and so will our wedding day. Lets all enjoy our engagement because we have 2 years to enjoy it all

I AGREE!!! It's so nice to take it slow and to be able to be picky and to think everything out so specifically!

Yep, I hear it! Ugh vay! Someone even said to me, 'how old will you be then? You know what they say about the biological clock and all..' Um I will be 29 genius, and who the hell are you anyway? People are truly amazing! Anyway, I'm REALLY glad to see so many other 2004 brides, and thank goodness I found this website!

Re: 04 Brides
I am looking at fall 2004 but I really haven't booked a thing yet. We know who our band is going to be, and are 99% sure of the reception and ceremony location, but we are waiting till after the holidays to book anything. We already checked that prices will not be going up when the new year comes (not right away at least) and that the dates we want are open. My mom lives out of state, and will be up for the holidays (and thank GOODNESS she is moving home in the spring!!! I don't think I could do all this without her) so we are waiting till she sees stuff to book. (just for her opinion, she isn't paying so I have the final word, but I highly value my mothers opinion when it comes to this stuff, she was lead singer for a very good and well renowned wedding band for 20 years!!! so she has been to thousands of weddings and has some great input!! yay!!)

I got sooooo many comments at first until I started asking people, do you want to pay for my wedding? Besides, your engagement is such a fun time!! I'm starting to really get used to saying 'my fiance.' We should enjoy this time as much as possible!! Everyone knows it pays to have a well planned wedding and not have to rush with the details and be unhappy with the outcome!

Re: 04 Brides
The more vendors I go to the more I realize I do need almost 2 years!! They are already booking well into 2004!! Then I thought about it- 2002 is bascially over and then its 03 and all of our weddings are going to hit the 1 year mark REALLY fast!! We gotta stick together!

Re: 04 Brides
I just cant believe how soon 2003 is going to be here. I am only engaged 3 months and I feel like it just happened. It took me and my FI a little bit of time as to referring to the other as 'Fiancee'. We're together almost 4 years, so we're so used to saying 'boyfriend' 'girlfriend' that it took a little bit of time of using 'fiance'
My cousin who got engaged a few months before me and getting married next year a lot of the vendors she called are all book, where we the 2004 brides can have our pick. we can be as picky as we want because there are vendors out there who arent booked. There are some who are, but we're not rushed or pressured into signing contracts. we can take our time.
I do admit, 2 years is also great because we can bargain shop. We can be picky with vendors and we know we have time to fine vendors who will accomadate our needs. Brian and I are paying for a good percent of the wedding so this gives us time to really save and really plan a dream wedding and not feel obligated to certain things because of time constrants.
I love this whole engaged feeling, and showing off my ring, and planning and seeing what else is out there. Each day I wake up and its one day closer to the wedding and its also one more day of enjoying being engaged. I think 2 years is absolutly perfect.

Re: 04 Brides
Jess Congratulations on getting the bands!! That must be sooo exciting!
Chippatrid I agree with you 100%. You said everything I have been feeling on the 2004 wedding. I love every minute of this engagement and can't wait till we hit the 365 day mark! I am already at 452. It has flown by so fast, I can't believe X-Mas is in 17 days!
Our recap so far: We have narrowed our eparty to three places and hopefully by the end of next week it will be DONE!! I swear this e-party is causing more stress than the wedding planning We saw Royalty today and loved the Cadis. We hope to get three kinds of Cadillacs for the wedding. Hopefully I can find someone else that has all three. We want to book the limos this month. For those that have visited or booked with Coachman how are they in service, quality and price?

Re: 04 Brides
CW: I went to BBB.org and coachman did not have a good record. A lot of complaints in the pass year and in the last 3 years.
Tip ladies: do a search on vendors at bbb.org
I did this as well as getting feedback from other brides and its really helped in my vendor search.
Christmas is in 17 days??? AHHHH I better get cracking on the christmas shopping. My mom wants a george forman grill, my dad wants a planner...yup I better get cracking!!

Re: 04 Brides
Thanks everybody! Marcela1654 I'm very envious of you! I can't cook (although I registered for all this cooking stuff), but I actually bought a cookbook yesterday in the hopes that one day whatever I make will be eatable.
