I invited approximately 140 adults. I had 125 respond yes. Those that said no lived out of state and I knew they were going to say no.
Total that showed up was 119.

I invited 260 and approximately 185 showed. I dont have my exact numbers. However, there was a good 25-30 people who were invited that we knew were not going to show.

Re: 07 girls who are already married!!!
I'm not quite married, but all of our responses are in. We invited 281 and we have 226 that said yes.
2 people called a few days before the wedding to say they could no longer come due to work & family illness (you have up to 48 hours prior at most reception halls to cancel without getting charged.)
(
So if I have cancellations 48 hours before I can get my money back? I have to put in my final payment 2 weeks before...
Ugh considering these replies and the other thread, I'm really thinking of undercutting my final count- I can't believe how many people are no-shows! I just don't really know how to handle it.
Did any of you brides go with a lower count than you really had just to count for those no-shows? How'd you go about it?
Thanks!!

Wow, Im really surprised that a lot of people have said that some guests have 'no showed'. I didnt even think about that happening and surprised its' so coming. It must stink that we still have to pay for their plates when they are not even there! What a waste!

No, that's not true for most reception halls. Once you give them your final count you can always add more, but they won't refund you for people who don't show up. That's why they tell you to give a number a couple below what you actually expect.
We invited 268 and we have 201 coming so that's a 25% decline rate. We also have a ton of OOT people which is why it was a little higher.

you have to ask your hall about that. our final date for a headcount was about 3 days before the wedding....they told us 'you can always ADD to that number, but you can NOT take away' our BM kind of hinted that if we think there were any cancellations or anything coming--to low ball that number....cause they could always had a place setting if necessary the day of.
we wound up with 2 no-shows that day, and had to pay for them anyway!

We invited about 260 - 184 replied yes
We had 2 people (couple) no show and 4 people call that week and said that they couldn't make it, although it was too late b/c we already paid.

Re: 07 girls who are already married!!!
We invited 257, and had 172 yes and 85 no. Some drama ensued, MIL made us invite all these people, which drove up our minimum, since we didn't know any better on the bargaining strategies and such. That said, all these people she made us invite, plus some surprises from my side were a no, PLUS we had 10, count them, 10 no shows at the wedding. G'darn stomach virus!!!!! Our venue really worked with us, and we split the difference in the minimum, which was really nice of them. Everything will work out, don't worry, your day will be great!
