I don't have a traditional bridal party so a group of friends are planning my bachelorette party (I get married early in 09). I haven't been to many bachelorette parties in NYC before except the awesome 80's prom -- what things are there to do? I am not sure I want to a anything like hunk-o-mania, maybe something more low key like dinner and dancing. Any suggestions? I want to help guide them in the right direction.

Someone told me Culture Club was closed???? I loved that place, I did 2 new years eve parties there.

1984 is awesome too!!! Its totally gay! Cheap and a little dirty, but completely awesome!
Dinner I would recommend Nolia- GREAT food! Talk to the mgr- he gave me a group rate of $50pp incl open bar

you dont have to do hunkomania or anything like that.
Theres tons of restaurants to choose in the city, and after you can go to a club, lounge or bar. Depends on what type of places you like

I liked the Joshua Tree bar it's an 80's theme too. Its not a far walk from Penn station but I don't have the address sorry. I'm sure you could go to a restaurant first and then hit up a few bars.

ETA: Yeah, September 8th is a Monday this year - you probably have to make diff plans!

Culture has been closed for a while. I work down the block from it.
Try Mangia e Bevi for dinner. Its all bachelorette parties...you do conga lines, and dance on the chairs to hilarious music.

yeah culture club is definitely closed, they are moving to a new location so maybe by beginning of 09 when you have bp it will be opened at its new location

For part of my b-party we went to Spotlight Live in Times Square and did kareoke. If you want dinner, drinks and activities at the same time its really fun. As evidenced by me humping the MC

my MOH had a passion party and then we went out for mexican food and margaritas and then more drinks after. It was a lot of fun and the passion party was HYSTERICAL!
