10 days away from my wedding....

...and my favorite Aunt passed away. This is so hard. Has something similar happened to anyone else. How did you get through your wedding? I was wondering if I should go to the doctor and request one days supply of Valium. My fiancee doesn't agree. He thinks it will numb me and turn my day into a blur for me.

I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine what you are going through. I do tend to agree with your FH though...that is some serious stuff and you want to be completely alert for your day. I've only had Vallium prescribed twice for some minor surgery and each time, I have been knocked out or so out of it, I couldn't tell you what month it was.

Just know that your aunt will be looking down on you and I'm sure that she will be your guardian angel on your day.

I'm so sorry for your loss. And I know it's hard but you will get through it and your aunt will be there-just remember that.

OMG!!! I'm so sorry to hear that!

I think you should only take Valium if you know how it will affect you.

I'm so sorry for your loss...i wouldn't take drugs...take the next few days to really grieve and cry....and remember your aunt...and then focus on all the good things like the times and memories spent with her...and know that she would want you to be happy on your wedding day....not sad...

I'm so sorry. FH's uncle passed away on Friday after being on life support for five days. The wake is today and funeral is tomorrow. It's not easy on the family but your aunt and FH's uncle would want you to have a great time on your wedding day, in their honor!

Re: 10 days away from my wedding....

The morning of my best friend's wedding (I was her MOH) my great-aunt (who was like a grandmother), just 2 1/2 months after her sister (also like another grandmother to me) died. My parents had to leave the country that morning and my sister and I had to leave the following morning.

What helped me was that I prayed. Asked God to give me strength to be happy for my best friend and remember the wonderful times that I had with my great aunt. The only time I almost lost it was when I had to sing the Ave Maria but I asked my aunt for strength and I made it through. I will not lie to you it was difficult at times to keep a smile but think of the good times, think of stuff that would make you laugh.

Please don't take the Valium, your FH is right. You're aunt will be with you and making sure you get all the blessings you deserve. When you think of her, smile because she will be wanting that for you.

This may be dumb but something from Little House on the Prairie comes to mind. It was a quote that says 'Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I'll remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all.' I bet she would want you to have smiles and laughter when you remember her especially on your wedding.

I'm so sorry! That's terrible. Honestly though, if you haven't tried any of those meds before, I totally agree with FH. You don't want anything to impair you or your perception on that day. I feel so bad for you...here's some and
