10'er Here: X-post: Wedding Gown Loaner Program?

Has anyone done this?

There's a gown I love, Essence of Australia D916, but no place has it in stock. Essence of Australia is only carried on LI at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook and the Wedding Center in Commack. Neither of the two stores have that particular gown in stock.

BUT, both told me that they do a loaner program, where for $50, they can have the gown shipped in and I can try it on. If I don't like it, they can send it back. If I do like it and purchase it, the $50 can go towards my gown payment.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Do you think it's worth it? I'm worried about paying the $50 (while in the grand scheme of things it's not much) and not liking the gown.

Here's a pic:

Hehe I know I'm not an '09er...but I'd say look on maggiesotterro.com...she has some dresses that look a lot like the one you are looking for.

Also, I was considering the loaner program on a dress that I found somewhere else and hated...but I would have been alright with paying $50 to find out since I was in loooooove with it online and I would have regretted it if I didn't try it on.

perhaps you can find a style that is very similar and try that on first before doing the loaner program to make sure you like that style in general.

Have you tried looking at stores in upstate NY, CT, or NJ? There might be a shop thats not that far and may not cost you $50 to travel to try it on. If you try it on at one of those stores, you can just buy it at either store on LI.
