100-125....small?

Original post by Rosalind_75

I honestly thought that was not small.
I always took pride in the fact that I had a very small group of close freindsand so does the FH
But since I started calling venues it sure has made me feel like crap

Should I be honest with myself and tell my FH that a hall might not be for us or can we really make this work?

That's not small at all...we have the same target number, and were able to get a min of 125, and we are a sat night. If you do it in the 'off' season, you have a better chance of getting a lower min too. Places that we looked at the offered mins of around 125-135 were Larkfield Manor, Venetian Yacht Club, The Meadow Club, and Villa Lombardi's.

We looked in the summer too, before the economy really hit the fan, and we able to negotiate a lower than normal minimum and pricing for 'settling' for December. Given the climate now, I'm sure you'll be able to do even better!

IMO that's just the right size for a wedding. There are plenty of halls that will accommodate your group. Try the Gardens at East Wind. My sister had hers there and she had a similar size. The room was perfectly sized and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous in the summer (June is when my sister had her wedding).

I'm only having a 100 people at my wedding. I think that number is perfect. You have many RH to choose from. Don't give up.

We had a 150 minimum at Leonards, and they can accomodate smaller minimums, too.

we had our reception at Larkfield Manor. they have a second smaller room that holds up to about 120 people. so you may want to check that. we only wanted to guarantee 60 and for Sunday nite they were willing.

the people are really terrific, the place beautiful and the food delicious.

pics in my album and a slidehow in video lib. check them out it might help you.

our min is 100 at watermill
we don't really want more than 125 i feel a smaller wedding is much more intimate and you won't be spending all night greeting everyone you can actually have fun at your wedding

First, if a hall makes u feel like crap for any reason then that's not the hall for you.

Small all depends on who you ask.

i'm having approx 200. At dinner last night the waiter and i were talking about it and he said how many are u expecting, i said 200. He then said, 'oh, you can find a nice small place for that'
He was also italian and i'm sure could have had a wedding that was 300+.

There are many many places that will be perfect for your size.
and on the + side... it's cheaper!!

I am planning on having between 120-150 (hopefully closer to 120). My minimum at Stewart Manor Country Club is 100. Different times of the year have different prices and different minimums.

Try the Fox Hollow- winter garden pavilion room.

My minimum is 110 people on a Friday night, for afternoons I've heard as low as 80. We're estimated 120-130 guests. The Halls can work with you...don't feel bad

Westbury Manor also has a room to accomodate the size wedding you're having. Douglaston Manor, Venetian Yacht Club Lots more but these are the ones I seriously considered.

I totally agree with the Fox Hollow Winter garden pavilion... it is beautiful and has a low minimum.

don't listen to RH's they just want more money, and that's really all they care about. i think as long as everyone you wanted to invite is there, it doesn't matter what the number is, honestly, the smaller the better most likely!

Don't let them make you feel like that!! Those are the approx. numbers of my wedding and I feel that is more than enough for me to call Large wedding.. Thats alot of ppl I have to accomodate!!

Try Leonards, Verdi, look around..

i agree! we had 76 people at our wedding at the swan club and we were never made to feel 'bad' about it! our minimum was 60ppl. i know how you feel b/c a lot of halls that i called gave me a lot of attitude about our # of guests, but just keep calling and you'll eventually find the perfect place for you! and definitely check out the SC!!

HTH! good luck!!
