I agree, jewish or not jewish I don't think it matters much, as long as two people love each other.JMO

No, it doesn't matter much whether a person is Jewish if you love them.

But, I felt that if I am going to meet someone online, I'm going to get specific about who it would be. And when I said I wanted to meet a Jewish guy and I said I wanted to meet a guy who wasn't married before, too many guys took that as, 'try to talk me into meeting someone who isn't Jewish or who was married before.' I just felt that they should respect my wishes and that there were plenty of people out there for all of us to meet.

If your profile said you weren't Jewish and if you waited for guys to e-mail you first, nothing wrong with that :)

Before I get slammed for saying I didn't want a guy who was married before, it was because I had been in a serious relationship with someone who was married before, got hurt and was not ready to to handle that again. I still, to this day, feel that our relationship began too soon after his divorce.

I have a friend who was raised Orthodox and met her husband on a Jewish singles weekend. He was just along for the ride with his friends and he isn't Jewish. That's not terrible but he let her just assume that he was Jewish and they were together almost a year before she found out. She still married him but lost some family over it. I thought it was too weird that he let her think he was Jewish even though he's a decent guy.

We did meet online but it wasn't through JDate. It was through a group for people who liked the band Phish. It just worked out that we both lived on LI.

I did play around on JDate though because my friend said my cousin was active on there..and still is actually. I found so many people I knew on there when I searched around.

Anyway my brother's good friend couldn't meet anyone decent until he went on there and they're moving in together soon. He's a total dork and I hear she's wonderful.

When we told the BM at our hall we met online his first response of course was 'JDate??'

Ok girls here's an interesting twist on the topic

A few times, while on jdate, I happened to meet other girls who told me they were on jdate. We compared notes, and some of hte psychos I met were the same ones they met. Anyone want to compare notes, just for fun. But be careful, it could be someone's FH you are talking about--though I happen to know that the crazy ones I met are still on jdate and now contacting friends of mine!!!!

That happened once with a friend and myself. We realized we were talking to the same guy. When I told him about it and that I didn't think it would be good to meet, he completely freaked out on both of us. It was actually pretty scary.

We both grew up in the same town and had mutual friends

We actually met freshman year in college and were just friends for 8 years. Both FH and I have been on j-date in the past. In fact I met my ex-fiance on j-date, lol.

Guess I (at some point in time) fit both theories.

Re: Jewish Brides: Where did you meet your FH... Was it...

I dated a guy who was Jewish and didn't want to marry me because I am Catholic. After we broke up he went on J-Date and is now living with the girl he met on there.
I'm actually happy for him because apparently that was very important to him. I just wish he would have been more up-front about it when we were together because I had no clue that meant something to him.
I would have totally been like ok, go find the right person because I can't change who I am and we would have parted ways right away because I'm understanding like that--you want what you want.
But it all worked out now that he met someone else and I've met my FH.
Turns out my FH dated a girl in college who wanted him to convert to being Jewish or else she wouldn't even consider taking the relationship to any next level.
So we both came from the same kind of situation--I should tell her to go on J-date! lol It would probably work out great.

OMG, I almost forgot this one: I had 2 other friends on jdate. I went on a few dates with a guy, then found out that he had spoken on the phone to my friend a few weeks before I met him but they didn't make plans. I mentioned to him that my friend and I realized we had both spoken to him. I thought he was just being silly when he then asked me if she was cute. She is a VERY pretty girl and I wouldn't lie about that (nor would I dis my friend) so I said, 'yeah, she's really cute.' Well, next time I spoke to our mutual friend, he had called her to try to make a date. He and I were seeing each other but still dating other people but did he have to call my friend? My friend was actually really annoyed that he would do that and she didn't want to go out with him. And I called him on it and he said, 'well, you told me she was cute.' That was the end of him!!!!
