Re: 11er crashing for day of advice
i think its all up to the bride. Personally I'm not, but I am paying for their accessories as part of their gift. It all depends on what you decide but its not mandatory

Totally up to the bride. I am paying for my MOH because she is my only bridesmaid and my sister. Also depends on th number of girls you are having in your bridal party. Every bridal party I have been in I have paid for my own hair and makup.

I dont see why anyone should expect you to. They should know coming into this that they are required to pay for things like this. I'm trying my best to find low cost hair and m/u for the girls cause i really dont want them spending a lot. But none of them expect me to pay for anything, even the accessories, so atleast they will be grateful they are getting a break there since I'm getting it for them
eta: i actually think its rude of THEM to expect it form you

I don't think it's necessary. I'm not paying for it. I bought them a ton of other stuff. They have the option to get their hair/makeup done if they want to or not.

I'm paying for some of the hair, but it's definitely not necessary. I've never heard of it being rude and don't think it's expected either.

I am paying for their dress, shawls and probably day of jewelry. Not paying for hair and makeup

Are you making them get their hair and makeup done, or is it up to them? I'm giving my girls the option, so it's not part of their gift (I'm paying for their jewelery and a clutch). BUT I would pay for it if I made it mandatory for them.

I don't think its rude of you to not pay, but I do think its rude of you to expect them to get it professionally done if you are not contributing money towards it. If you are not giving $$ then it should be optional for them to do it.
I am giving them $ towards hair/makeup but not paying for the whole thing.

Re: 11er crashing for day of advice
It is just an option. I'm paying for my girls make up and probably part of the hair, instead of getting them gifts. While being able to give them a gift is a nice idea, I talked it over with my girls and they all appreciated having one less thing to pay for, and a couple of them said they love having their hair and make up done, but never want to spend the $$ to get it done, so its a treat. They've all been in bridal parties before and have all the usualy bridesmaid gifts, so they're not missing out on anything. (From their mouths not mine) Also, it leaves me with one less thing I need to worry about.
Your FSIL is incredibly rude for telling you that and is just trying to get a freebie.

Re: 11er crashing for day of advice
the only reason i think you should feel obligated to pay is if u are specifically having them all get a particular up-do....if it's their option to wear their hair the way they want, it's up to them....
and makeup anyone can do themselves. i've never had my makeup done professionally, but will be on my wedding....i've been in a zillion bridal parties and always done my hair and makeup myself

Re: 11er crashing for day of advice
It's up to the bride and what she can afford. I'm paying for them to have their makeup done but just because I know someone who will do it for a lot less... If it were the usual $75-$100 I wouldn't be able to do it for all of them.

umm no, thats not like a 'wedding rule' it's totally up to the bride. Do what you can and want, don't make anyone pressure you.

Re: 11er crashing for day of advice
you shouldnt have to do that on top of a gift... in most cases that would be your gift... its totally up to you...

Re: 11er crashing for day of advice
My friend did this for us...but that is a lot and we didn't expect it. I'm not doing it. I sent the info to all the ladies and let them know if they chose to use the person I am hiring, this is how much it will be.
