12th Night vs. Duet

Original post by MrsMichel07

Please tell me the difference.. even though i heard both are great.

I am not looking to spend thousands of dollars of pics, I don't need parents albums just options of printing some larger portraits for special family members, ty cards, B/G album... pretty simple stuff.

Video... i don't need a whole movie production.. something nice.

Thanks.... hope to hear some good points about both.... I am off to work!!!

But to try to not hi-jack the thread with album talk... it seems like the people that want an all in one package (Photo, Video, and Albums)... and have the cash to spend go to Duet.

The more budget minded people, and the people that want to do work with the original files and proofs themselves go with 12th Night.

Both places are spoken highly of by their respective client base on this website.

So who is more expensive?

For what I was looking for, digital albums and video, it would've been the same either way - and it might even have been a little more expensive for us with 12th Night because I remember that getting video from someone else was going to bump it up quite a bit, whereas Duet includes video and you save money by using them for both. If you don't need all that, then you'll save money with 12th Night. But they're both digital, and they both do great work.

Check them both out yourself along with a few others just to compare. When DH and I were deciding it was a difficult choice between the two. Utimately, we chose Duet because they were right for us. Good Luck!

I went with twelfth night because I absolutely loved Doms work. He is able to make an album for you (digital) but he works with an outside vendor for that. I am not creative and I dont know how to use photoshop so I am going to work with Dom to make my digital album. I believe he told me it would be about $1000. I am making my own parent albums and will order any smaller sized prints myself. However, he suggested that if we wanted a portrait size we order it through him. Even if it the long run it turns out to be a little more $$ doing a lot of the work on my own, its worth it to me. His work is amazing.

we met with both and booked Duet... my husband and I just absolutely fell in love with Duet's work after seeing their albums... there was no question in our minds that we made the right decision... our proofs are beautiful, our family and friends are as impressed as we were... I wish I had a scanner to show you some of them but hopefully I will have a CD soon so I can post some here...

I never saw 12th night, but booked Duet for only photo. I think their prices were very reasonable compared to the other photographers we saw.
I would recommend you go to both and see what kind of vibe you get.

I booked 12th night also- and I picked the album that I liked. He saved me the price for 2005- although if i choose not to I dont have to buy it at that time. He will make a layout for you- IF you prefer to do it on your own then by all means go for it.

I did also go and see Duet and couldnt decide for a long time who to choose until I spoke to a few girls from here-

definately go and check them both out that will give you a clearer idea of who you want to go with

Best of luck and FM if you have any questions.

I am using 12th night...I'm paying like $2200. 2 photogrpahers, all proofs on CD. I get like over 1000 proofs.

Maybe I am slow... But they don't give you 'printed/photo quality' proofs??? Just on Disc???

Desen't it cost a fortune to print them all out??

We are getting both printed proofs and a CD. (from Duet)

Re: 12th Night vs. Duet

We booked Duet. I can't comment on 12th Night because we didn't see them. What I can say is that any pictures I have seen on here look nice as well.

We were on a strict budget and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg either. Duet was able to work with us to give us what we wanted at a price we could afford. After all is said and done, your photos and video are the only things you have left. You have to go with what works for YOU.

Good luck with your choice. From what I have experienced with Duet and what I have heard about 12th Night, I really think you can't go wrong.
