1st fitting dress drama!!

My 1st fitting was on Tuesday. (no pics, sorry)
it was so exciting to see 'MY' dress but they have to reorder me one from Demetrio's b/c it's too big. They can't alter the one they ordered me b/c it wont look right afterwards. So now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks before I can start the alterations. I was disappointed but not angry at them. (even though when i was fitted the end of July, my mom and i both said to each other 'i think they are ordering too big a size!') They promise me I will have plenty of time to get everything done, it's just more stress that I don't need.

look at it on the bright side --- they have to order you a SMALLER SIZED dress - you would feel a lot worse if the dress didnt fit and you needed a bigger one

How big was the dress that they couldn't take it in? I am getting concerned now b/c I have lost a good amount of weight since I ordered my dress. I figured they can just take it in. What if they can't?

I'm sorry this happened to you!! But try to relax... there is still a good amount of time to get everything done. And I agree -- it's a GOOD thing that they have to get you a SMALLER size!

I thought that too but I would lose too much of the detail on the side of the dress and also the front was not going to line up correctly w/ my chest. i lost only 10 pounds since I ordered the dress in July. That's not alot either.

I'm in the same boat as you. They had to reorder me a new dress after 2 fittings. Now my new dress is expected in the end of next month. It's more disappointing than anything.

Uh oh. I think I better call the salon. I have gone down a couple of sizes since I ordered my dress. Did they charge you for a new dress?

I can totally empathize with you. At my first fitting, I found out they ordered the wrong color. They have since reordered the dress but now I have to worry whether it will be here on time. I still haven't gotten an approximate date that they expect it. At least they told you three to four weeks - that's still plenty of time for you to get alterations.

no, there is no charge for the new one. they were the ones that fitted me and it's not like I lost a huge amount of weight. they did ask me how much I lost though. I don't know if there is a certain amount where they then hold you repsonsible for the size difference?

That's good that you don't have to pay. You must be relived about that. Maybe I will tell them I didn't lose that much weight (although I have) so I don't have to pay again.

How long did they say it will take for your new dress to come in? When my sister got married and her dress came in, it was dirty. They ordered her a new dress and it was in within 2 weeks time. Just thought that might make you feel better.

they made another appt for me for April 8th so I'm assuming they think it'll be in by then. we'll see!

Generally they say that you shouldn't take a dress in more than 3 sizes...where did you order your dress from? I'm curious because I was in a wedding once where the dresses were all HUGE on every BM...they ordered them ridiculously large. FH's cousin ordered her wedding gown from the same place and they did the same thing again.

merrie, who sized you the day you ordered it? Enza was the girl who helped me the whole time but she wasn't there the day i actually ordered it. a different lady helped me.

i do want everyone to know that i am not upset with the salon at all. they have been nothing but helpful. i was just disappointed that the alterations wont even be started til the 2nd week in april

The place I ordered my dress from actually ordered it too small!.........

They were able to let the dress out 2 inches so now it fits be perfectly, however, it was so dissapointing when it first happened.
